Previously paid £72 pounds or so for my sky Package which is Everything
Phoned them today to speak to a lovely canadian call centre agent and after explaining that that way to much to be paying for a service i really use and its only the kids and OH who watch it i wanted to downgrade to £45 package (sports & Entainment Xtra). she quickly looked into my account and gave me the biggestof the day.
my package now is everything for the next 12 months at lovely price of £.....(wait for it)...44 per month total saving for the year £336 reeeesult :T

SKY!
Ok... After a complaint about being overcharged and a bodged home move (leaving me with no phone or broadband for nearly a month) my 1 year contract with sky is almost at an end.
Thought about leaving but Virgin isn't available in my area so alternatives are limited.
I decided to stick with sky when I moved for 2 reasons. 1- installation was free for phone and TV and 2- to avoid charges for leaving before the end of my contract!
I called saying I wanted to cancel because 55 a month is too expensive and also because of the problems I have had in tha last 12 months.
I have Tv with entertainment extra & HD pack. Line rental & Unlimited BB.
After being put through to complaints about the service I have had, I was offered 1 month free as a good will gesture.
Not happy with this I asked to cancel as 55 a month is too much for a basic package.
After a bit off negotiating I eventually got offered
Free line rental for 12 months
1/2 price HD pack for 12 months
And 25% of Entertainment extra for 12 months
All with no minimum contract.
New monthly charge about 32 and to be honest, even though this is a good deal, I wouldn't have been willing to pay much more than that!
As many people have said, if you call asking to cancel it seems you get a better deal!0 -
The Sky retentions team are a tough nut to crack, I pay £33 for the 6 mix packs plus the HD channels, I phoned up saying I wanted to cancel, armed with offers from Virgin Media, the best they could offer was 6 months half price Sky Sports, I asked for free HD for 12 months and he said it wasnt possible, any tips?0

any ideas gratefully received0 -
any tips?
If you can live without sky, then hand in your notice and wait for them to call you. My bet is they will, but if not then you can always ring them up after disconnection and tell them you changed your mind.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

Thanks for all your posts on here, we were on virgin TV Med, BB Med, and phone for £39, OH rang and asked for XL Tv, BB and phone and Tivo box, was told £50 installation for box, wasn't prepared to pay as its free with SKY so asked for cancelations, we now have XL TV, BB 3x faster than currently, phone line and Tivo box, no installation charge for £46 per month to match sky, wouldn't actually want to switch to sky as we have no phone line attached to house, so happy days! All without an argument!0
