Got a phone call from Sky this morning and after talking about why I was cancelling I ended up getting offered the complete channel package with sports and movies for £26/month, and I would not be tied in to a new 12 month contract so could cancel at anytime and if I still felt this was too much I could phone up and see what they could do for me.
Forgive my curiosity but may I ask you for how many months?Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance

Forgive my curiosity but may I ask you for how many months?
Got the half price for twelve months and I can cancel at anytime as it's not a new 12 month contract. Did get asked during the call if I liked HD and the Multi-room and I said I could live without them so I do wonder if I had said I wanted them I probably would have been offered a deal that included them but as I'm only on a monthly contract I can see what they offer at a later date.0 -
I rang today to cancel sky, I was paying £23.50 for channels (no movies or sports) They offered me with no fuss the channels for £18.90 no new contract for 12 months. Does me fine i get 3 free dvd rentals from lovefilm so i dont need movies.Jan Wins: .0

Many thanks for your clarification. :money:
You'll probably be contacted by Sky quite soon, offering HD for something like £2.50 per month.
For some reason that I know not and cannot fathom, Sky seems to be very resistive to including HD in 50% discount offers for everything else.
It may (or may not) be because some special deal has been struck involving the Sky F1 channel (which comes free with an HD subscription).

Just to let you all know that I cancelled Sky and it was due to be cancelled down today. I received a call from the Sky marketing team yesterday but missed the call.
I called up customer services today and told them I had a call from the marketing team but I missed the call and today is my last day so what can you do to make me stay?...Telephone advisor went away and came back with 12months half price with no contract tie in so I can cancel anytime with 30days notice. I did ask about giving me HD for a reduced price but he was unwilling to offer anymore..tbh i'm happy at the 50% off my package for 12 months, so the message to all that want to lower their bill is cancel, then wait for Sky to offer you a deal as the likelihood is they will if you've been a valued customer.0 -
A bit of advice is appreciate. I have just come to an end of 12 months half price movies offer - so i am going to call to cancel the movies and cancel HD subscription.
Should I ask to cancel totally as I was just going to drop done my package significantly and see if hey offer anything?0 -
I missed sky's payment last month - dd returned! They sent a letter to say i had one month to make payment or they would disconnect me. However, i had an email today asking me to fill in a "leaver's" questionaire, about 10 questions asking why I was leaving etc - just wandering if anybody else had filled this in and had had reduced monthly payments? I am awaiting a call from sky to discuss my replies - just hoping they can reduce it lol.0

Well I've been with Sky 15 years and told them I want to try Virgin who are offering 6 months half price, they were very nice but only offered me max saving of £10 a month 25% off my TV! I get the whole package and have been a loyal customer for ages.
Trouble is my Sky remote has just about had it and the HD box is a year or tow old and I like the look of Virgin's Tivo box.
If however Sky offered my 50% I would have taken it but they don't seem to want to give anything to me. I went with the cancelation so we shall see if they come back before my 31 days are up.
Otherwise it's over to Virgin.
One thing they guy said he would put the TV on cancel but not the Telephone or broadband as Virgin will do that, thats not correct is it?0 -
I had a similar experience, I was due to finish on sunday, they had previously offered me a reduction from £52 to £39 if I stayed. This evening I have received a phonecall offering me half price for 12mths so I'm now paying £26 with the full package (except HD). this worked out cheaper than me re-applying for it with £160 quidco cashback and £100 M&S voucher

Hi,
Phoned Sky today as I've been getting fed up with my old white Sky+ box and the fact I get a better picture on my freeview channels. I can't receive Virgin where I live so I had a look at BT Vision online and worked out switching to one of their packages would save me about £100 a year. Called Sky and explained all this to the women, she made a good point that I wouldn't receive a lot of the channels I currently have through BT as it's primarily freeview, neverthless she ascertained it was the quality of the picture and the price that would make me leave so, to cut a long story short, offered me a free Sky+HD box, without having to take the £10 HD pack and reduced my monthly payment from £34 to £22.50, essentially saving me almost £144 a year and I get to keep all services the same. Funnily enough I received an offer from them today to receive Sky Sports half price for 6 months, tempted now I've made such a saving!!
Very Happy!! :j :beer:0
