  • Amazing. My Virgin bill was £74 for TV and broadband (inc sky sports) and I phoned them to say I was leaving. Cancellation was arranged for beginning of January (set a reminder for myself to undo the cancellation before they came just incase it didn't work!) but sure enough 2 days later someone from Virgin called me. I am now paying £40 for 2 months then £52 a month including UPGRADED internet (30 meg) and free premium Spotify subscription. I am thrilled! I barely even said a word on the phone so am sure I could've got more but I'll certainly try this again! Well worth giving a go.

Was moving and decided as i was out of contract with sky to see what i could get. Was currently paying £21.50 for tv, £12.50 for broadband and £16.50 to BT for line rental and weekend calls. £50.50 pm

After haggling for over an hour and deciding to take sky talk at my new address i got free line rental for 12 months and free broadband for 3 months also.

So now my tv/broadband/phone bill is only £28pm, £21.50 for tv and £7.50 broadband (saving £147 over the year for free line rental)

    Hello all

I move into my new house next week and have never had sky, home phone or broadband before.

I have read online that there are usually better discounts in the new year as fewer people subscribe to sky, do you think it is worth waiting? Or should I go for it now and get the M&S vouchers and half price broadband?

I am not in a Virgin Media area.

    Thanks
  • My Sky Anytime and planner did not work and lost all recordings, complained to Sky and they said it was a free service and wouldn't do anything, offered £5 for being on phone for over an hour, 3rd time this has happened, I asked for reduction in subscription and was told no, can anyone give me advice.
have tried going to retensions team before but they are not interested and asked if I wanted to leave, said they would cancel contract there and then.

You'd be lucky to get anything!

Anytime and planner is indeed free and calls to Sky (if you have sky phoneline) are free.

Just called up sky I was very polite indeed though the person kept me on the phone for 28mins!

    Cancelled our Service which included:
    Sky+
    Sky+ Multiroom
Base Package + Movies & Sports
    Which all cost £60.25 = £723 a year :(

Didn't get any retention deals was just advised to downgrade.

I've seen a few offers on the HD side, though we don't have HD TV's. The rep said that to be classed as a new customer you have to be sky free for 12 months... is this correct?

i cancelled my whole tv package by email about 3 weeks ago. Got a call about 1 week ago asking why i wanted to cancel. Said i could not afford it and my recent discounted deal had come to an end, ive been on discount (half price) for 2 consecutive 6 month periods. I can afford it but that is not the point , better in my pocket than Rupert's.

Told them i loved sky sports but could not justify such an outlay and i did not think that i would be offered another discount. Girl said that my current deal ends on 21/12./2012 and that she would phone me back on that day with an offer. :) as they would love to keep me. I am a great actor on the phone.

I will be taking nothing less than half price again and i will get it.

I do thinks this helps, i know it shouldnt, but it is a Scottish call centre and every time i call them they cannot be more helpful.

It is almost as though you get preferential treatment for being Scottish, they are a business so im probably completely wrong.

    Hi All

I'm not very good at this whole Sky/Virgin stuff :o can someone tell me if this is a good offer?

    Virgin
    XL Broadband
    XL TV
Box- Tivo (I think it's called that - it records etc)
ESPNC (I think) it's the sport chanel
Box in another room (does not record or pause etc)
Phone with free evenings and weekends

All this for £54 a month - sound OK??
