Hi,
We have sky+hd in my lounge with all channels/sports/movies and hd. Also have 2 multi-room normal sky boxes upstairs for my (grown up) children. Costs around £70/80 a month.
We decided as Christmas presents to upgrade the childrens` boxes to sky+.
Phoned Sky. They said it would cost £408 to get 2 sky+hd boxes. We said `Can`t we have a discount for being loyal customers? ` They said that WAS discounted.
Phoned Virgin. They quoted £100 to supply 3 v+hd boxes (first box free) and we would have to pay 2 months subscription upfront = £140, so about £250 in total with installation/activation. We said yes lol.
Phoned Sky to give them notice. They asked why we were leaving, so we explained. Were put on hold for a minute and then Sky came back and said they could offer us 2 sky+hd boxes installed for £29.99 each, so £60. No change to our monthly costs.
Guess what.....we said yes! Cancelled the Virgin order with no problems.
These phone calls took place on Wednesday last week. In the space of a few hours the costs went down from £400 to £60. RESULT. I think it was the threat of us leaving.
The Sky installer has just left. He asked what kind of deal we got and when I told him he was very surprised, so we have been very lucky.
Hope someone manages to get a good deal from this - they ARE out there.

Well my sky ran out on 2/12 and we forgot all about it until there was no tv. Virgin werent really cheaper so I asked my g/f to ring up for me(she has authorisation) and say to re-instate without the movies as we need it cheaper and she was offered sports and movies and all the usual channels for £27 a month. Very surprised after the rudeness of the last chap I spoke to and no idea why but at half price I am not complaining. And I was moaning before0

I have been a sky customer for around 3 years.
Every 6 months, i would ring up cancellations and get half price sky or free line rental.
My last offer expired on the 29th November, and have tried twice to get another good deal, but they only offered me a measly 25% off for 6 months.
This time I have defo cancelled, and lucikly have asked Father Xmas to bring me a HD Freesat record digi box, to replace my sky + box.
The only thing I will very much miss Sky Atlantic programmes, but is it really worth me paying £15.38/month?
Last sky viewing will be the 5th Jan - hope they ring me back and offer me 50% like usual.
Anyone else been offered 50% for 12 months?0 -

Yes, but they didnt bother ringing me it was pure luck. We just wanted to reduce the cost while thinking about things but half price for 12 months will do :beer:0 -
Just rang Sky to say as much as I loved it £83 a month (Sky Entertainment, Sports, ESPN, HD, Phone & Broadband) was too much and I was looking at going to a BT Vision package for about £57 a month.
Very nice lady on the line offered me free line rental (£12.25pm) and free unlimited broadband (£7.50pm) for 9 months.
Near £20 off for the next 9 months seemed more than fair so I was happy to accept.0 -
So you finally managed to get a deal? - your persistence paid off! Haven't seen anyone getting the 1TB up to now so you have done really well!
Anon
I did indeed, eventually!
When she called me and said she could do Tivo etc etc I interrupted her and asked 'can I ask a cheeky question' she said yes', I said, 'which Tivo' she said it'll be a 1TB now as you asked so nicely'
Free install, free equipment and as they can't install for quite a while she even chucked on £30 goodwill to bring my bill down next month.
Certainly restored my previously good experience with VM.0 -

Personally, I wouldn't have accepted their second offer. I wouldn't do business with a company that treated me so poorly. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
IMHO, both Sky and VM are both pretty poor on the CS side. Pound notes (sorry coins) speak the best :T0
