  • That's good to hear, although oddly I have money in, which is all being lent, then the rest of it has suddenly not been touched- It's not in the "safeaguard" scheme and I don't know if that's deliberately done when people try to loan they get given the options of "safeguard" first.

I've "lent" £40 in 5 days, with several hundred free, something which normally will be gone within a few hours. Mondo weirdo.

  • Thanks Alchemilla, I'm one of those odd courses that's done before the exam day, so I know how I've done, hence the pressure. It's off me now though :) And i't half term. Lots of positives!

  • Am feeling a bit annoyed - been paid (Not annoyed) but did some overtime which I think has been miscalculated, as it works out as £3.40 an hour extra which considering was done in my holiday seems a bit low! Will have to investigate as I've spent the money on some white goods which had sadly served their time (a microwave which had been a student and lodger microwave for 6 years) and which had started to rust and burn stuff on the top of the microwave. Not a good look. Anyway, that arrived today.

  • Other than that, am planning to do a "big" shop at something like Costco today, which will be expensive but will fill our freezers up for a few weeks with meat and other essentials like milk and what not.

  • Another update, was fortunate to get paid for a wedding (did it for free) so have been spending that (a bonus as it were) rather than my cash. So, it's been a cheap week and will be a cheap week next week. I should stress it was a voluntary photo shoot at the wedding so I didn't expect or budget for it. Looking to cut back on prices in my life again, have been getting a bit wasteful in the past few months. Should be able to set aside some money this month, but I've budgeted for a BIG car fix and some new furniture - both could be expensive. We are now at a point in our life that we buy quality with the plan to invest for 20 years or so. Should be good fun - will push the furniture back to next month so I don't go overdrawn with car and furniture in the same instance.

  • I have made some small MSE devices in the past month - Bought a nice thermos and water bottle, (technically the thermos does both) where I make a cuppa in the morning (hot in the thermos) and cold h20. It's worked really well in that I am drinking more water (but from the tap rather than expensive water bottles) and the coffee means that I am not (I rarely did) buying expensive coffee. A very simple money saving method!

They look nicer than normal cups and mean I always have a hot and cold drink with me all day.
    Brilliant.

  • Zopa -
Seems to be a bit of a challenge!
Every time I log on the projected forecast for returns is dropping!
Started off at 4.9% for a 5 year loan and every time I've checked it's dropped, right now it's at 4.5% which is a big drop in a month and a bit.

    Should I be worried?!

  • And a small announcement - Our family are increasing by 1.
Am grateful for our austerity in the past few years which has meant we are able to roll with the punches better than if we didn't make such belt tightening when times were good.
