  • You're right!
    OM = me,
    MOM = Mrs me
    then we need to decide on the other OM's.
    Will it be
    GOM = Girl me and BOM if it's a boy, or
    GOM1 and GOM2?

    The last option (GOM1 and GOM2) sounds like some long distance weapons the Russians would have in the Cold War!

    Many many congratulations. Lovely news.
    P.s. we know what you've been doing!!!
  • Alchemilla I stick my tongue out at you and blow a raspberry :)

    Thank you for you kind words. We have loads of boring things to do over the next few months - we have a long time till the arrival of no 2, but many things need changing/replacing so that'll be the priority. Next is some cupboards to replace the rickety ones we have currently.

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:you're right it does, just wait until those celebs get wind of the naming craze!

    How about
    TOM = Toddler OM
    BOB = baby OM? ;)

    What kind of cupboards are you thinking of replacing? Think I might need to ponder new kitchen doors & tops next year in the BTL...

  • So war has been declared.
    We have started making overpayments on MOM's BTL - it's sat rented but no overpayments for some time.
    I rang the Woolwich on Friday and it turns out we can make infinite overpayments with no cost.
    To make matters better, they will send out a letter telling us of the new balance. What I didn't tell them was that I like sending a lot of small amounts on a frequent basis, so I think I will start getting a lot more post from them as we chip away at the mortgage.
    Currently, 76.5k? (The first 2 numbers are right, the decimal place at the end is an approximation).

    First overpayment is £10.00. Have sent it to confirm that we have the right bank details, then I will start making many small overpayments.

    As a recap, there's me (OM), my wife (MOM), my young daughter (DOM) and one in the oven, Bump (BOM). MOM will stop working soon, so we will go down to one income so paying off the mortgage will slow down.

    Having looked at how interest rates will affect us, it appears that being IO will affect us big time when rates go up (next few years) so being able to keep chipping away will mean the impact when they rise will not be as heavy if we owe less. Not rocket science. Also with savings rates being so low, there's not a huge incentive to save all of the money as we're talking about small quantities of cash and the interest profit will be very small.

    So, first step on the road we go!

  • So still waiting to get confirmation that the money has gone. Have the next amount to go, only £30 but if it's out of my account I can't be tempted to spend it elsewhere :)

  • Summer holidays await! Hallelujah and a big congrats to any other teacher who has made it this far.
    We have a busy summer ahead, furniture, car fixing, travelling etc. Should be fun but expensive, however we always keep our eyes on being MSE.

    Have a huge steak and chips for tea, before we declutter the house tonight,
