  • Thanks GG. A small update, but not a lot to update on - just looking forward to the Christmas break but there is a lot to do over our time off. We're all tired and a bit irritable at work, ready for a good rest :)
Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved
September 2016 - Back into clearing a mortgage - Was due to be paid off in 32 years in March 2047 -
April 2018 down to 28.00 months vs 30.04 months at normal payment.
Predicted mortgage clearing 03/2047 - now looking at 02/2045

Aims: 1) To pay off mortgage within 20 years - 2037
  • Oh, and I'm managing a no spending week - I try to take out money once a week to do shopping, fuel, food for lunch etc and then spend nothing during the week. It's a discipline I've done for years, so isn't too difficult once you get into the habit of it. Then I'm hoping to have a big Christmas shop this Saturday, and ideally spend nothing else between now and Christmas itself...

Whether I can or can't, that's the question.... But it'll be a fun challenge.

  • £500 off. Am now upto saving the equivalent of £100 a day which I'm more than happy with. Not spent a penny since shopping on Saturday, and that was the only time I've used money in the past 2 weeks. What a scrooge I am.

  • Still a no spend week (Well sort of!) - Have spent a little bit of Christmas money, now the plan is to get through to new year (well pay day on Friday) without withdrawing any more monies.

  • First bit of 2012 saving done - £500 off. I know it's really in 2011, but as it's from the Dec paycheck, I'm counting it off for 2012.
Happy new year to you all.

  • And I've set up a small e-saver standing order with First Direct too. Hopefully that will keep aim 3 of 2012 on task. I'm paying in the minimum of £25 for the first few months until target 1) and 2) is completed - aiming to have both done by July 31 2012 - at which point I will have 5 months to fill up the easy save scheme. Or that's the theory anyway.

  • Final stats for this year - I managed to complete 165 exercises (more than 30 minutes of hard work) - gym, sport, walking etc and managed roughly 100,000 calories burnt although it's far from scientific. That said, I will aim for over 100,000 calories, I think the secret is to go for some long walks as it is easy, sociable, pleasant etc. So I am going to tentatively aim for slightly higher (ideally exercise every other day, e.g. 183 times next year).

A target that I think is achievable.
