  • Last month to go - £1k off, obviously being Christmas, unsure what will be saved and what not, but at least the end is in sight in terms of the mortgage, just a few (5?) months to go.
Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved
September 2016 - Back into clearing a mortgage - Was due to be paid off in 32 years in March 2047 -
April 2018 down to 28.00 months vs 30.04 months at normal payment.
Predicted mortgage clearing 03/2047 - now looking at 02/2045

Aims: 1) To pay off mortgage within 20 years - 2037
  • And my third target has been met - each was in my mind hard, but I met the first target in August I think and have been fortunate to hit the other 2. I won't set any more targets for this year, but I am aware this was anomalous in terms of volume of money and next year will be very different...

  • wow well done OM you sure are hammering the mortgage down- will you be MF in 5 months then? how fantastic!! :)
must be lovely to go into xmas knowing this could be your last xmas with a mortgage!
  • Thanks TYO... I think next year involves clearing our mortgage, clearing a small stoozed credit card and expanding our dynasty with a baby.
It would be great to get there, esp as we're both relatively young. Someone said to me at work that paying off your mortgage is the best pay rise you ever get as what you used to pay out monthly suddenly becomes "yours" to play with. Roll on that day I say.

  • Another payment of £500 made.
Very close to a what I thought was an impossible dream - of saving 36.5k over the year, or £100 a day.
Fingers crossed, we'll get there before the end of December, even if it does mean dipping into my January salary to top up the 2011 target.

Currently averaging £98 a day in saving, which is a great achievement.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)
