  • Hello Mrs Sparkle - This is my first post on your thread, but I wanted to wish you all the best for your impending arrival!
I am an OFSTED registered Childminder up in Yorkshire, and would LOVE to earn £4.50 an hour. Considering what I do, £3 an hour for an hour of loving care is a pittance. Remember that Good Childcare isn't expensive - it's Priceless!

Hi Sally, you're absolutely right! When I find the right childminder he or she will be worth their weight in gold :D

    IT'S PAY DAY!!!

I'm celebrating! I've just paid off 4 credit cards in full and have cut up all CCs except my M&S and First Direct ones (mainly because I need them for work)- it felt really good to cut them up I can tell you. I'd have liked to have used my bonus to pay off a bit more but I stupidly ran up my overdraft in January as it was the most horrendous month full of unexpected expenses so I had to use a huge part of my bonus paying off the OD. Anyway, it all helps and at least the figures are going down.

As of today my debts now are:

MBNA credit card- 0% until Dec 07 £8,892.57
    Egg loan- £13,403.76

    Total £21,956.33

I really want to eBay some stuff but am scared of going into labour and not being able to deal with queries and dispatching parcels. I think I'll do some Amazon stuff instead as it's easier to put in jiffy bags and I can activate my holiday settings if anything starts happening. I've budgeted £200 for spending money this month which obviously I'm hoping not to use as I'm not exactly going to be going out lots with a huge bump or a newborn but it's important to me to not feel too pinched. And I do have a couple of lunch dates planned with girlfriends so I'm covered for them.

All in all not a bad day :D

I hope all is still well with Thomas, he's going to have to start getting ready if he wants to share my birthday on saturday :rotfl:

I'm still watching This Morning- it's really interesting isn't it?

Thomas is under strict instructions to hang on until at least tomorrow night as my hubby is away up north and doesn't want to break his neck getting back if anything starts happening!!

It was really interesting, if a bit worrying for someone thinking of training as a midwife! It will be years until I qualify, admittedly, but if there's not going to be a job at the end of it, or if its going to be even harder to get onto a course because of funding cuts

Here's hoping Thomas hangs on at least until everyone important is close by!

My first week of maternity leave has been a success. Because Thomas hasn't put in an appearance yet I've managed to get paid for annual leave this week instead of maternity leave.

I've also spent the grand total of £4.50 Sunday- Thursday and even then I took the money out of our change pot instead of going to the cashpoint. Tomorrow I'm meeting friends from my antenatal class for coffee and lunch so what with train fare and paying for lunch this will be my big spend of the week.

I've started to stock the freezer with home made ready meals in preparation for having a newborn taking up all of my time, plus the house is clean and I'm up to speed with all the laundry. I could get used to this not working for a living (but not the loss of income...). So, a good week really and hopefully I can continue like this next week.
