Just been to my private dentist today, for the last time, he was a brilliant dentist and with my fear and experience with dentists in the past, I am dreading having to find an NHS one, but have no other choice.
DH's new company has got off to a very slow start, so not making us feel brilliant, and I now have to write up a shopping list for Tesco tomorrow to try and do the shop for £50 again like last week, I guess there's nothing like a challenge is there?
Don't worry. I had a dentist who did thousands of pounds worth of work that wasn't necessary and who filled me with fear as a child. I (among others) successfully sued him, but this left me with PTSD and a real phobia of dentists. However, I now go to a lovely NHS dentist. She is absolutely lovely and has restored my faith in dentists and the NHS. Just changing your mindset about things is often all that it takes. I am sure that you will build up your trust in your new dentist (and at a fraction of the cost) and at the end of the day, they all have the same training!!!, so it's just about personal differences. I am sure that you will be fine.
Sorry to hear about the slow start with the business, but it is early days, I am sure that things will pick up soon.
With regard to the shopping have you tried Martin's tips on going one brand cheaper?? I can't remember what it's called, something like the downshift challenge. I.e. if you're used to Tesco's finest, go for Tesco's main brand, or then down to the Value brands. I used to spend at least £400 per month on food for me and partner and 2DD's. This was mainly due to partner's snobbery with regard to meal "musts" and "must nots". However, now I can easily get by on £200-£250 just by trying out new things. e.g. I love Tesco value ready salted crisps. I used to only ever eat Walker's or Seabrooks but tried them and think they are much nicer. I still can only eat Walker's cheese and onion as I don't like the taste of the Tesco main brand or value ones. Small things like this will soon add up, but you have to give them a try to begin with, and get family on board to be open minded about trying these things. If they're not, then you've got a struggle on your hands. x x x0 -

I hope you're right about the dentist, lol, mine used to be NHS but then set up his own private practice and I followed him, and luckily didn't ever need that much doing as the prices are ridiculous.
Yep I've done the 'down a brand' challenge with a lot of things, I tried two new ones last week and found that value baked beans and peas from Tesco are acceptable, so will buy those from now on. I will see if there is anything else I can go down a brand on, but have covered a lot now, and have just been to Morrisons down the road as they still have the cheap 30p bread and 50p milk, so that's helped a lot, my freezer is now full of bread. :rotfl:
I must say that having a dog to walk is definitely helping me cope better, I have just come back and feel a lot better than when I went out, so he is definitely worth the cost of the dog food!
:rotfl: He is getting more and longer walks so he is happy! 0
