This site and this board will help you through. Mad as it sounds debt busting even gets to be quite enjoyable (at times).
Once your SOA is in place it will help to assess if you can do this under your own steam, need a DMP or for the sake of everyone look at bankruptcy. So you may have some hard decisions along the way but you will have people here, who understand, to talk to.
Good luck, keep posting.
We really want to avoid bankruptcy due to DH setting up a new business, so really hope it doesn't come to that. Thanks for your support, and I must admit I did get a thrill when I managed to do my Tesco shop on half the money I usually do, it gave me a sense of achievement, sounds silly I know.

Hi, the best thing you can do for a start, is definately work out exactly how much and who you owe.
That can be a quite daunting task and also a disheartening one, but once you've done it you really have taken the first step. I know I buried my head for a long time, but when it came to totting it up, I realised just how much I needed to sort myself out.
After that you can really start to set targets (small and achievable ones at first) and seeing the debt reduce really spurr you on.
Good Luck.0 -
Hi Cheeselady,
Just wanted to say hi and that you have come to the right place. I'm in the early stages of a DMP and after feeling so alone and desparate this forum has given me the strength and determination to sort out our finances and I'm sure it will help you too:)
Good Luck and keep posting:)

It is not silly, we paid off £64000 of debt in 3 years by being motivated to spend less. It was bliddy silly that we let ouselves get into that level of debt in the first place.
Your Tesco shop sounds like a cause for congratulations. I am going to have a cup of tea to celebrate.0 -
Morning Cheeselady, hope you're feeling a bit better this morning. Each time you smile, it'll only last a while.Life may be scary, but it's only temporaryEverything in life is only for now0

Hello everyone, sorry couldn't get on this morning, due to my keyboard not working, asked DH to have a look, and turns out it was the batteries needed replacing.

Feel a bit better today, but still constantly worried, I have just been talking to DH and showed him this thread, I am trying to get him involved as much as I can. We are going to try and do a SOA today, or at least make a start on it.
I will post the SOA on the forum as soon as we've done it.0 -

Your husband could be a sole trader if you did consider bankruptcy, he just couldn't be a director of a limited company.0 -
Hi Cheeselady,
I also not getting too much sleep either.
DH doesn't know I have this account, this is going to be my way of trying to pull myself together?
I cry
regularly when DH not around so that I look stronger when he's at home, he works long, hard hours and probably doesn't need me crying on his shoulder when he gets home!
