    Hi
Over 10 years ago - I had a provisional license and had passed the theory test. I was convicted of drink driving and having no insurance and banned for 3 years.

I have tried looking on the DVLA site but can't seem to find the relevant info and the automated service similarly doesn't have the option I need.

My questions are - when I apply for a license now - as I only had a provisional - do I just apply for a normal provisional? The website shows there is a form if you have been convicted of a drinking offence but this seems to refer to a FULL license rather than a provisional.

I have been given mixed info from friends regarding whether the conviction is gone / on record / needs mentioning on forms etc.

Would if I ever get to the point of passing my test and getting a car need to declare it to insurers or after 10 years is it not the case?

    Thanks for any help.

I know it was an extrememely stupid, irresponsible, dangerous and thoughtless thing to do in the first place - so I could do without that pointing out.

Just out of interest, you mention you only had a provisional licence, were you also done for driving without a full licence or was the person instructing you at the time also banned?

[Pedant Mode/]Licence is the noun, license is the verb[/Pedant Mode]
I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?

The only information in this post that is factual is that the offence remains on your license for 11 years. It was previously 10.

'Police Marker' :rotfl:what a load of crap!

Please don't result to swearing on a public forum.

And as for the number of other people deciding to have a good old laugh, go ahead - it is very clear you have nothing better to do, than try shooting other peoples options down - laughable to tell the truth.

blued, think your whole post needs editing, as well as the swearing removed perhaps contact your local Police force and ask if there is any such thing as a PNC marker against a car, or you could just look here:

Assuming you mean "opinions" that is actually the issue, maybe your posts would be best prefixed IMHO every time;);)

Last line clears up the gender issue I think:rotfl:
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

I have made a point of flagging a few posts on this thread to admin for them to see in the morning, specially the ones that appear offenive and have abusive words in.

I think you need a lesson in manners and how to accept you are not right all the time :money:

I'm sure if a word I used was considered unsuitable it would be taken care of by the forums filter software.

To be clear I wasn't disputing the fact that the police can place a marker on a vehicle (or person), but that it is not something that can't be removed as you have stated in your post. Neither of your links back this up.

Sassy - You continually give poor and incorrect advice.

Either simply give your opinion and accept that you are wrong most of the time, or humbly bow out gracefully.

There is nothing wrong with having an incorrect opinion, that is what the forums are for, they enable us all to learn and fill the gaps in our knowledge.

You state rubbish as fact - most of the time.

Digging your heels in and reporting anything you don't like is simply infantile.

Sassy the fact is that no one has been offensive or swore at you.
and may inadvertantly take your views
They/we or me included have tried to make the fact clear to others that your posts are purely opinion with precious little fact to support them.

We are not having a dig at you, merely trying to protect the posters that come looking for sound advice and may take your "views" as gospel. Clue up or butt out, and don't try and pass yourself off as an expert. :silenced::silenced::silenced:

Well this as I imagined opened a can of worms. I couldn't find the login details to reply sooner.

Thanks to the people who stuck to answering the question asked and for taking the time to respond.

To Sassy etc - well quite obviously you are a) entitled to your opinion and b) accurate about it being irresponsible etc. I'm not going to suggest it wasn't. It maybe that people convicted of drink driving should be given prison sentences but as it currently stands they don't in the main. I think there a lot of crimes that deserve prisons sentences or longer sentences etc - however I wasn't asking for a debate on the criminal justice system and it's flaws or on your opinion of me personally. I asked a question - I don't see the need for you to give your opinion on something that wasn't asked - clearly drink driving is reprehsensible - I'm not going to try and justify it.

OP, I was not having a dig personally at you, but was merely trying to show you the affects of drink driving however a number of other members decided to attack my posts on this thread giving there in correct advice, as they only 'stand' by you if you agree with them, disagree and they hate it!

I hope you have learned drink driving is not worth it, to the public's safety or yours.

    Good luck driving again :)
