Blimey that was a while ago! I'm very well thanks Weezl, kitchen is in and lovely, I've been busy renovating the rest of the house but having to take some time out now as Baby D is due in 2 and bit weeks and I can now barely haul myself out of bed let alone up a ladder to paint ceilings!?

So I find myself with a bit of time to get in my kitchen and enjoy it. Have noted the changes to the recipe and will get testing this weekend for you. OH will be very pleased!

Best get on to those brownies stat!

All the very best with the baby, you midwife-led or consultant?

  • I am hoping to do xmas dinner on sunday. Slow roast pork is one of our favourite roasts here. I will test the stuffing at the same time. Cant do brownies as the flour here is weirdy compared to yours :-(, might have a go at carrot cake in muffin cases though :D

Well have just made the mushroom soup and waiting for ex to come in so we can enjoy it. Also having HM pizza as well so will report back on the verdict
  • I'm planning on following week 1 of option 1 this week - it was already planned, once the food for that has run out (there's only 2 3/4 people to feed but I cook the full amounts) I will do the Christmas one - I've book marked the link.

I've just picked up 2 x 2lb silicone loaf pan in Asda for £8 (I already own 2 metal ones)

if anyone is willing to test JUST the stuffing part of the pork shoulder dinner perhaps as part of a roast meal this weekend, please do!, We realise it does not readily roll into balls so a couple of tests that it's fine in a mini roasting dish would be fab.

Shanks/arty it contains dried fruit, so don't bother;)

I am planning on trying it out. We are on 23rd today! The family loved the waffles but I had to add 75g extra flour as they were too runny for my griddle. They all loved the syrup too :)

The brownie did not turn out very well at all. It is crunchy at the edges and is falling apart quite badly :( The family are just picking at bits of it from the tray.

French onion soup was a fantastic idea and the men all had some at lunch time with home made bread. There was plenty for 6 adults and we have some left for those who don't like mushroom soup.

Tonight is toad in the hole. I am not sure what I will have as I don't eat wheat. Maybe sausage and onion gravy with potatoes.

ETA The brownie recipe I tested was the original Christmas one not the new one. Just don't want to confuse people. I can't test again as my Asda order isn't here until tomorrow.

We are very late eating as we had a bereavement today, friend not family, but we are all a bit numb. Doing this is keeping us going and we are all looking forward to Christmas lunch on Sunday :)

thanks for your feedback PB and sorry for your loss (((hugs)))

also sorry the brownies weren't good, it did work for me but now I am wondering if I forgot something! I do hope the family can make something with it!

very many thanks for being a willing early tester, it's quite a risk with the family's food and I do really appreciate your faith in our project!:T:T

nice to see you again, and I'm really glad you will join with some christmas testing! Would you and katie be willing to try some frugalised mince tarts?

    Greying Pilgrim,
I've been thinking some more about your idea with the vegan christmas... I wish you had more regular internet and I could pick your brain some more about that... but sooth to say it is all bubbling away in my brain!:)

Soup was lovely both really enjoyed it. Didnt have cream in so used milk instead and it tasted fine. Might be useful if only making one or two portions. Pizza as usual nomnom and it is one of our staples

    Thank you.

I am also now doubting whether I put everything in the brownies. I had a difficult phone call whilst I was making them. Maybe I forgot something:o

I will try again when I have my chocolate tomorrow.

Another thought.... I don't know what anyone else thinks but we are eating a huge amount of onion today..could we swap soups? Maybe have mushroom on 23rd and onion later?
