I am just writing my shopping list for my Christmas week, starting tomorrow! As there are five men and me to feed and DD and DSIL for Christmas lunch should I double everything? Last time I tested I didn't increase anything but I think there were just 5 of us here.

  • Weezl, we have a couple of e-mails about the plan asking questions. How would you like me to deal with them? I can forward them onto you, I can put the questions on here and then people can answer them and I can forward back the answers, I can forward to a specific person (ideally someone who has followed the plan or plans). There are some queries I can answer, like people asking for things like the shopping list or the reasoning behind not having seasonings on the shopping list but there are others that are a bit more involved!

I can't see mushrooms on the shopping list for Christmas dinner:)

Should the brownies say 'self raising' flour?

thanks sian! Right, sounds like you're dealing with quite a few there so firstly, thanks!

As to what to do, how about allegra, poohbear, arty, shanks and jenny (plus other testers) for answering recipe questions.

edited to add: also auditbabe is a dab hand at anything chilli and curry related

Lesley or I are probably the best people on nutrition questions.

Batch cooking, allegra is your woman, there :)

If you are getting any questions coming up more than once or you think it's something I can easily address by putting a quick edit on the site, like with the seasonings, then just let me know and I'll do that.

In particular saying which ones seem either really troubling to one individual, or something prompting emails from a few people would prob be best for me to address first.

    How does that all sound?

    What was the complex one?

Can you forward it/copy it on here?

Thanks again for all your hard work!

    Weezl xx

poohbear thanks for the spot about the mushrooms, duly added now :)

I think you will need to double your veg for christmas day but no need at all to double the meat or the mushroom soup, they will easily serve 8, as the leftovers are for the pork in tortilla. If you would also like to make that meal (thanks!) then do get double IYSWIM?

    hope that helps!

I have made the chocolate brownies today. I couldn't get on here to ask so hope the ingredients list was correct. It was extremely heavy on sugar and hardly any flour. Not the proportions of ingredients that I recognise for brownies but I have learnt a lot of new things on here. Should be out of the oven very soon.

It is 23rd December here tomorrow and as far as possible I will follow the week's plan so we will be doing the pork tortillas later in the week. The boys are not sure about the waffles so we are having a taster session soon. We have almost every ingredient either here or in the garden except a few things so it isn't costing much extra.

DH wants to have toad in the hole for Christmas day! Now see what has been started :p

you could do the same sauce but use crispy bacon instead of the salmon to have a carbonara type, or maybe some pan fried chicken, or even use some of the slow cooked pork, the same weight as the salmon - yum

Ooh good ideas! See, where all ths medication has got my brain! Befuddled and useless. I should have easily worked that out! Now I know that the medication is sending me dolally tap!!:D

Ooh I will do that tomorrow for my tea now! Thanks :T

there was going to be a dish Pork in Cider Sauce in the chrimbo meal planner, but it was changed to be Pork in Tortillas

however, I decided that we were going to have the cider sauce one for dinner tonight. It was totally scrummy, and I will def be doing again

For the 2 of us, I used 80g onion, sauted in 10ml oil, add 20g flour and stir about a bit. Add 200ml cider and mix until thickened, stir in half tsp grainy mustard and s+p. Add 160g of the slow roasted pork

Served with 200g mash each, 80g cabbage, 80g carrots each

The pork could easily be reduced to 60g without noticing much

I was going to add a little splash of cream to mine (OH doesn't like it), but it was so scrummy without that I didn't bother.

On my planner, this costs out to 44p each. The official planner is prob a little cheaper

Hi we tried the toad in the hole tonight. It is the first time either of us has had it before but were both impressed and would have it again. We didnt have the wedges with it as we thought it would be a bit carb heavy so just had broccoli with it and it was filling enough without it. Both of us gave it a 7/10 and ex will be happy to have it xmas week
