Hugs Poohbear, I'm so sorry for your loss.
My energy levels have been great today and I might get to do some proper cooking tomorrow.:j What kind of tin would I need for the brownies? I don't have a tray-bakey kind, wondering if a pyrex lasagne dish type thing might do? Otherwise I have a square cake tin but it probably wouldn't be big enough.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

I am also now doubting whether I put everything in the brownies. I had a difficult phone call whilst I was making them. Maybe I forgot something:o
I will try again when I have my chocolate tomorrow.
Another thought.... I don't know what anyone else thinks but we are eating a huge amount of onion today..could we swap soups? Maybe have mushroom on 23rd and onion later?
I agree
And yet I'm loathe to take the mushroom soup from christmas day because I think it's much more special.
Hmmmmn
we must ponder this one further,
I was a little concerned about that actually cos when i realised i had to fit 5 kilos of onions into a week i did think... eeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

hi weezl,
As requested i'm came to give feedback on the yule.
Well lets just say it was lush, everyone loved it. Including my partner who hates chocolate cake in every way shape and form.
Now i had a few problems with the recipe as i did not know what to do with the egg yolks and sugar mixture. So i turned to some of the recipes that were posted on here.
So mixed the egg whites/ sugar in with the melted chocolate then added the egg yolks and sugar to that.
It turned out fine very springy and lovely tasting. My cream didn't work out at all. Maybe i didn't stir for long enough but it was just really liquidy. So i experimented with fillings , one part whipped squirty cream, lovely. Another bit with custard also nice.
I then used the cream and sugar mixture as a kind of sauce, which worked extremely well.
So we'll be definitely be having that again.
Going to try some more recipes tomorrow.
Hope your all well x0 -
Hello,
May I join in please? I have made weezl's carrot cake on several occassions but have now started making the mixture into muffins DELISH and manage to get 30 large muffins from the mixture. Also I didnt have an orange so omitted the peel and used a splodge of orange cordial which tasted fine and you couldnt taste the after taste you get with some cordials.
Im now looking forward to testing/tasting some more of your delicious recipes. I am a family of 5 and will be experimenting with the xmas menu this week although I will probably only be able to test out breakfast recipes at weekends as week days are chaotic enough and kids usually either have cereal or toast.
Looking forward to reading all of this thread over the weekend and have "subscribed"
Thanks again for all your hard work
Hugs

We just had a lovely e-mail about how good the carrot cake is. The lady who e-mailed said she tried it in bun cases and it made 30 which cooked in 20 mins. Might be a good one for the alternatives if it isn't already in there especially for packed lunches
I always cook the carrot cake in bun/muffin cases
Its a choice thing for me... as it cuts down on cooking/cooling time :cool:Well have just made the mushroom soup and waiting for ex to come in so we can enjoy it. Also having HM pizza as well so will report back on the verdict
Loving the mushroom soup.
I cooked the full recipe tonight
It is luverly
The only draw back I can see, is,
That is a thin soup.............
Ok if you like thin soup. . . . . . .
I'm a thick soup kinda gal
So would have to add 250g mashed spuds.... or 2 heaped tsp cornflour
But none the less...
A wee tasty soupit's true it is quite oniony:o

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh
So....
I will compare/test the two soups together
A weekend of testing
Bed for now0 -
Morning all
I talked to DD about the recipes and she had a look and thought she'd try a chicken dinner at the weekend - but can't find how to poach a chicken. I can't find the instructions specifically about that bit either - please can you point us in the right direction?
Many thanks

Morning just jumping in quickly to say I am impressed with the new Christmas menu, I try to keep up with this thread but sometimes it romps away from me, I just wanted to ask what plans were underway for the veggie version and offer my services. I am a lifelong veggie, and in a previous life was a chef, (although I don't really shout about it on here), and am willing to give things a try for you, or offer some recipe ideas if you let me know what ingredients are available for it!
