I see what you are saying Weezl. I think what you wrote is fine considering just how low the salt content in. Just wondering is there a minimum RDA of salt? What I mean is can you be salt deficient?

    yep :)

    1.25g daily is the minimum

Thanks for the welcome back weezl.

I am now having a look at the planner to see if I can incorporate any of the meals into my menu plan for the month. I am back to the full compliment of 5 men and me. Can someone please tell me what day you are up to on the planner and I will see if I can join in with the testing a bit?

    Hello,

I am now armed with a shopping list for Kitty's week 1, that is for dinners and weekend lunches. Will let you know how I get on. I am thinking of alternating meal planner 1 and 2 in diffent weeks and as there is only my DD and I there should then be nice stock up of HM ready meals in the freezer at some point :j

Poohbear - thank you so much for the bread recipe, will definitely try that.

    that's very exciting marru! wow.

Errrm, I'm not sure who's testing what at the mo, but I think Allegra will be along to say so you can do it at the same time as the others :) good to have you on board. Are you/DD normally vegetarians/vegans?

Made single portion of Bean Curry tonight. Served with 75g instead of 100g rice as this enough for me.

Nice and easy and quick to make.

Will make again, but will try it with curry powder instead of spices in recipe, to see the difference in taste.

Errrm am I making any sense?

Yes, you are :) And with that in mind, yeah, I guess it's fine to leave it as it is.

I guess I'm forgetting just what we're up against in terms of misinformation and the like - and salt content is something I am keen to have folk informed about as both my parents have high blood pressure so salt, rather than calorie counting has always been a biggie in my upbringing ;)

BTW, we've tried the ginger loaf now - truly, truly nommy :) Perhaps a bit too heavy on ginger for me - I am someone who likes certain ingredients, such as ginger and coconut, far better in a savoury setting, so I might halve the amount of ginger for us next time. But other than that, 'tis really very good.

It did make me recall the frugalising process with that one - it was initially to feature oranges and golden syrup, then shed them all one by one until it was frugalised to the max, yet you'd never guess - it feels decadent enough as it is now :T

We had the pea risotto tonight, but more on that later, once I've sorted out the photo.

It's anarchy this time round, PB, so you are very welcome to do whatever you want whenever you want :D I am trying to follow the day meals as closely as possible, but falling behind a bit as I've overcatered when testing out the batch cooking, so need to eat stuff up before I make much more - but for what it's worth, I am on Week 2 now for days.

Evenings are even more anarchic, as I am only doing three or four Kitty dinners a week (the intention being to test out every single one of the 15 before my Kitty month is over on the 8th September), and others are joining in as and when they see fit. So far, we've had pasta funghi, panzanella, shepherdess pie, tomato and olive pudding, nut roast and pea risotto, with bean curry to follow on Thursday.

I will repost the list of the remaining dinners over the next day or two to try and organise three more dinners to be tested next week :)

No we are not veggies or vegans hence I was thinking of swapping from one meal plan to another to get meaty week here and there.

I didn't manage to get spelt flour, mustard powder or the coconut thingamy. Need to go to different shop tomorrow. I think that I shall try the pasta fungi tonight as that is easy enough and at least I have ingredients for it (if I swap the SR flour to corn flour)
