weezl - can you not contact ASDA or perhaps a major brand of canola oil to ask them? After all, they responded about levels of calcium in kidney bean juice!
That way we could have some sort of definitive answer to those who may be concerned about added trans fats. Personally, I'm not bothered, but I know how hard to try to address all food concerns

Salmon pasta is AMAAAAAAAZING!!!
I'm just going to see if the FB page allows video? I have 15 seconds of edgar that sums up how scrummy it is fabulously0 -
Also Weezl - tesco brand UHT single cream is only 1p more than elmlea single and tesco UHT double cream is 8p cheaper than elmlea double. I assume its similar prices in asda?
I hope that helps with this hoo har (I've forgotten how/why it started)

sorry to page hog but...

Weezl - a note for the Salmon pasta recipe page; the pack size of trimmings is 120g in tesco so it might be helpful to change it to say "1 pack (approx 125g) smoked salmon trimmings"
I know some people aren't confident when it comes to these things and I'd hate for them to faff about getting 5g from another pack because they doesn't have access to an Asda locally
ETA - Can I ask why this recipe uses SR flour? I was surprised but dutifully followed it0 -

oh hooray! We totally love that video here! Fergie has just made me play it 9 timesAm very glad the boys liked it after they were less fond of the chicken pie.
Yes I will certainly make the change you've suggested to the salmon recipe.:)
re the SR flour (of course you can ask!:p) ok so you know I have agonised with these planners so there is nil waste ie shirl buys that shopping list, and within the month she uses up everything (or as near as dammit!) well I found that if we bought 2 types of flour, this 'nil waste' principle was MUCH harder to achieve, shirl would be left with a scrappy bit of plain and a scrappy bit of SR and slightly too few cals etc in Bob and the kids. So, I tried to work out if we could just use one type for everything. Using plain in cakes will give a flat heavy cake, but using SR everywhere doesn't give any bad results as far as I've observed. The only slight thing you might notice is if cooking a pancake with SR flour, sometimes you get little air bubbles, so it is slightly more like a crumpet.
If folk weren't on a tight budget or following the planner it would be fine to use plain flour, but as they are the same price, I was happy to just plump for SR.
Hope that helps! What did you decide about the chick peas at costco in the end? I couldn't find them at the Cardiff store on Sun!

none of the CFR planners use elmlea, but I'm sure lots of readers of this thread will find that tip very :money::money:

I had a feeling that would be the answer to the flour Qu
I'm planning to get some costco chick peas but the bank account is sadly empty :oand they don't accept credit cards so I'm just hoping they still have them in stock at that price when I get some more funds. I need to sit hubby down and have a good chat about things - urgh grown up stuff!0 -
hi all, a new feature today is a list of all the recipes print versions, for a shirl who is trying to print everything off, to save her a bit of navigation around the indeces. Many thanks to MFD from the parent club for the suggestion.

i must have a different version then mine is showing the elmlea with a value for transfats, maybe I downloaded the newer version?
Sorry Weezl mea culpa, elmlea does have figures for total trans fats as single 0.37; whipping N; double 0.89 which, compared with 26% hydrogenated on current label does seem miniscule.
The date on report is 1998. I assume this is the same dataset as yours as it is the one you linked to and AFAICS is the only one.
As at least three people have said they are not worried about trans fats and I'm guessing they are not bothered about other nutritional issues I will leave it for now.
But if it comes up again - so will I;)
PS You do know you need much more veggy basedALA than EPA DHA omega 3 from fish. New radioactive tagging or tracing techniques have consistently revealed the actual levels of DHA being converted in human subjects from various dietary animal vs. plant sources. Men need far more than women as they can only convert less than 1%. Not a problem we're all women here:rotfl:0
