Hello,
I 'know' Weezl from her parenty based posts elsewhere
Just wanting to know if the salted nuts in the new cheesecake recipe can be washed to remove the salt and if so do I need to tweak anything like add more oil? Or should I give it a whirl with the salt, it seems a bit of a trend at the mo to have salted caramel in desserts  but I avoid salt as much as possible.

Hmmm, not sure. Peanut butter usually has at least some salt in it when u buy in the shops. But with all the other ingreds, i doubt u'd miss it! It's not like flour-based baked goods where u 'need' a lttle salt. Personally, i don't think it wld matter, so can't hurt to try?top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

Wheelz and the gang have done a really fantastic job with the planners and the cheesecake looks amazing and would look fantastic on the poshest buffet sitting next to the caviar. Now we have the 2 menu plans, Christmas planner is well on its way and we have a number of standalone recipes are in development, our thoughts are turning to those situations that can derail the best laid plans. You know the ones: a family gathering, mates round on a Friday night, kids parties. All of these can blow the budget so now we're looking at assembling menus for just those occasions.
What sort of planner would you like to see? We are interested in your thoughts and ideas give us your views and let’s see what we can achieve. The new cheesecake recipe is incredibly brilliant and an excellent example of what can be achieved so your ideas don’t have to be cheap we’ll make em cheap for you. Tell us what you want and let’s see what we can do.Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.0 -
Here's some ideas for a party buffet using the existing CFR recipes:
baby pizzas cut out with mug tops
chicken and onion pies done in patty tins
half the onion replaced with sweetcorn in the filling
half the onion replaced with mushrooms for an alternative version
little espresso cups filled with any of the soup recipes
big serving bowls of moroccan rice, pasta salad (with extra herbs or bacon pieces) and sausage potato salad
mini doughnuts covered in cinnamony sugar as finger food
teeny redpepper tarts (in patty tins)
ditto onion tart
ditto onion tarte tatin
ditto BNS tart for a sweet finger treat
soup bowlfuls of various houmus flavours as dips
carrot sticks and bread sticks made with marmitey dough to dip in
mini veggie burgers
bread dough used to make rolls (method on my to do list) and spread in walnut spread
mini sweetcorn fritters
nut roasts, either version, made in muffin tins
ginger loaf dough baked in little muffin tin rounds
any of the scones and biscuit recipes
spicy potato wedges

I shall see what I can be bothered to do on the day, knowing me I'l just give them a shake in the sieve to just remove a bit:cool:
Also the recipe doesn't say anything about the tin needed, which would be handythe lady that inspired this beauty says 23cm/9in springform tin so I assume this is the same? (please say yes because that's what I own too)

Hiya Sami,
The recipe as published is half the quantities of the decadent original, which means that the 23cm tin would be spreading it rather thinIf you doubled the quantities, though, it'd be just perfect
I am just doing mine in a 20cm loose bottomed tin (my kitchen has not graduated to springform yet), and although it's spreading a bit thin, seems to be working ok - will let you know later on today if that was a good idea or not though !0 -
That cheesecake looks so delicious! Good job!
Another e-mail yesterday asking whether someone could reduce the oil if they were on a diet? Am I okay to explain the reasoning of the oil and to explain how someone could reduce calories by using fewer snacks etc?God is good, all the time

hi all
sian, yes I think reducing the snacks rather than the oil is a much more balanced way to lose weight.
It may be worth mentioning that the oil is the main provider of omega 3 and vitamin E
Also the kitty planner seems more filling than the shirley planner, so would be easier to reduce quantities without hunger on that planner, although both planners are pretty filling.
Hi sami, nice to see youIf you do try a salt-less version please do let us know how it goes and I'll quote you!
Also yes, sorry you need to double it to fill a 23cm springform, Aless halved it but not sure what her tin size is?
