awh pooh pet have another one ! xxx I was wondering about eggy bread. How can you add cinnamon/maple syrup to it , is this not bread dipped in beaten egg and fried ? I add salt to that, and cant picture it made sweet. Mind boggling here - please answer fast lol!

brill, sorry for the delay my men are all hungry at the same time! If all your bars are dark, then only reduce the sugar by 30g and up the flour by the same amount to create a dry weight equivalence :)

If they went crumbly last time, try leaving in the tin until very cold, then they go more fudgy and easy to cut and don't fall apart :)

And have another huggle- cos I like you :)

Mardatha, skip the salt and drizzle the syrup over the end result.

Aless will be on in a mo to say this is the true way to eat it :D

I will indeed!! I've NEVER had "eggy bread" (*ahem* French toast) as a savoury and it should always be sweet. In the USA, it's served with syrup and often also with a sprinkling of icing sugar and fruit! Soooo delicious, just give it a chance and you will hopefully be surprised!!

erm, did you still need a linkie, poohbear? http://www.cheap-family-recipes.org.uk/recipe-chocolatebrownies.html?opt=pc

I sometimes make it with salt but watched a TV cookery program once and they had it with icecream and syrup...... heavenly....... not good for hips though.

    Hi all :)

Sian I'm sorry I didn't get back to you about testing over the weekend, actually it would have been very useful but real life got in the way :(

We have a new FAQs page linked from the homepage, which I'm sure sian will appreciate cos it tackles the pesky seasonings ;) but also others may find interesting.

I am debating with the idea of adding the question 'I am not in the same level of hardship, is the site still useful for me?'

This raises a couple of concerns, would it be too obvious, and wouild it make higher spenders on groceries feel defensive.

Very interested in any views you have all of you :)

PB are you back to crimbo testing now? MDW is starting that now so may like to ask you for occasional tips if you like?

I had more but I've forgotten...

    will be back...

You could either make it a plan for emergency hard times, or make it a challenge for a set time, like a month ?
Some people seem to really prefer to spend a fortune on supermarkets, its very odd and I dont undestand them! :)

You'd need to define your level of hardship quite precisely first then... ;)
