Venus, here are the links to Hayley's two alternatives articles:

    Planner 1 alterantives: http://www.cheap-family-recipes.org.uk/p1alternatives.html
    Planner 2 alternatives: http://www.cheap-family-recipes.org.uk/p1alternatives.html

Anything useful that's not in either of those can be included in your article :) Ta muchly.

Thanks again Allegra, you're a proper little star :A sorry I didn't realise they were already live on the site... d'oh!
  • Quick update, ds x 2 had frozen and defrosted in the toaster fruity pancakes for breakfast today and said they were just like plain ones done that way, which means they freeze and reheat really well :D.
Eat food, not edible food-like items. Mostly plants.
  • Scones and carrot cake are a big hit.

We had the onion tart tonight, delicious as ever and there's some left for mine and DD's lunches tomorrow after swimming.

I don't think I'll be able to join you on Halloween :( I'll be running round getting stuff ready for the party that my church holds as an alternative to trick or treating - I'll probably end up in the decorate a biscuit corner so will be busy cooking the biscuits.

However, I am planning on testing the Christmas food this week :)

No worries, MDW - biscuit decorating sounds fun!

I bought sausages, smoked salmon & pork roast in the shopping yesterday, so I foresee a lot of Crimbo week recipes being made soon ;). Minus the egg mayo *shudder*.

Aaaarrgh, might just be me being dense coz I've just woken up, but I can't find the Christmas planner recipes or the brownie recipe anywhere! Have looked through the thread a bit, on CFR and on the Facebook page and still nothing... sorry to be so thick, could someone point me in the direction of the links please? :)

Off to make a brew now and wake myself up a bit... hopefully!

Sorry about that it isn't linked from the main site yet cos I'm a bit worried about it being 'out there' until we've ironed out the glitches :)

you can bookmark just the christmas planner page if that helps?

  • Thanks Julimk for the link, has been duly bookmarked!

From first glance, waffles and cinnamon syrup, fruity pancakes, eggy bread and sausage ( at that one - even sort-of OH might eat it too!:D), Toad in the Hole, spaghetti aglio e pepperoncino, the actual Crimbo dinner (but with chicken not pork, and minus sprouts!) and maybe even French onion soup should all be goers for me, they all sound delish! Am really looking forward to cooking something different now, and all to help an excellent cause!

And Weezl - thanks for the brew luv and very nice to 'meet' you at last! Have had two cups of tea now so feeling a bit more alive, gonna do some more work on my article today inbetween [STRIKE]the devil's work[/STRIKE] sorry housework :rotfl:and hopefully later get in the kitchen to do some baking... still not checked if I have ingreds for any of the CFR cake/scone recipes I want to try, but got a dozen bananas reduced to 50p yesterday so going to do them in a yummy choc and banana cake recipe I got from a friend - if anyone fancies it, I'll gladly post it up so just let me know. :)
  • Question, will the bread dough freeze? I only have one tin lol, or could I use a quarter of it, cook it then repeat 3 times? I know its not very cost effective for the oven to be on so long, but i can't think of what else to do and i want to try this bread lol

    I don't think it will sadly, m'lovely :(

i think freezing will inhibit the yeast too much.

If you have more dough than tins, what about making pizzas, calzone, rolls or coca mallorquina with the rest of the dough for max use if the oven? or breadsticks for elliot to chomp on to help those next few teeth emerge? Just thinking it will use the oven to the max then :)
