First add the garlic and mustard powders to the stock, then add the onions and stock to a saucepan. Now add the second teaspoon of oil, then, using a wooden spoon, stir in the plain flour. Stir all this together over a medium heat and then switch to a whisk, then gradually add the stock to the pan, whisking all the time, until it's all in.

weezl please help! planning to make this for dinner tonight but slightly confused! in the ingredients you stated self raising flour for the gravy then in the method you've said using plain. also, the method above is quite confusing...'add onions and stock to saucepan...then gradually add the stock to the pan..' i thought i'd already done this?!! do you mean add the onions and stock to the bowl, then add to the saucepan? help, OH is home soon and expecting din dins!

:rotfl:do you have them as part of christmas dinner or do you do a different veg?
I do peas and carrots and buy sprouts on the proviso that OH prepares them himself for him and Alice and I eat a token sprout to set a good example.

sorry Nat! I thought I'd fixed those typos :o yes please use self-raising flour, and yes you are quite right the second reference to the stock is unnecessary, it's already there!

My mistake. I hope I was in time and your dinner is ok.
