RBS Branch Sale Announcement
Comments
-
Q21 of 25 on the RBS Q&A page says exactly the same as the NatWest Q&A
See the "Account" tab page : http://rbsbranchinformation.co.uk/home/faq
I think I may have found what may be causing the misunderstanding.
There are a number of different web pages on both the NatWest and the RBS web sites.
Each individual page is tailored towards a particular group of customers and hence the details only relate to each of those particular groups.
I think you are picking up information from one individual page and applying it globally to all branches / accounts being sold, which is not appropriate.
The different groups as I see it are:- NatWest scottish branch customers - Letters already received to inform them of change of sort code, but I do not know the background reason for the change
- NatWest scottish branch customers - no change of sort code but I am not aware of why this is the case
- RBS english branch customers - Letters already received to inform them of change of sort code, but I do not know the background reason for the change
- RBS english branch customers - no change of sort code but I am not aware of why this is the case
Make sure you follow the appropriate link for your situation.
I do not have the time or the inclination to go searching for all the links to the above, but you have already found some of them - in your words : "There is a more up to date "hidden" Natwest branch sale webpage in the same format at the RBS one"
yes - your link http://rbsbranchinformation.co.uk/home/faq states "For most customers, your account number and sort-code will remain unchanged" as does the NatWest varient of your link http://natwestbranchinformation.com/home/faq
and my link http://natwestbranchinformation.com/retail/FAQ states that all sort codes will change "your renewal card will show the new sort code. Your cheque book will be updated when a new cheque book is triggered or ordered and will show your new sort code"
I have received a NatWest scottish branch customers letter with no details of a new sort code
there is slightly different information about online banking arrangements on each version of the links
Q.
Will my online and telephone banking services be the same as before?
A.
Yes, you can continue to use these services as normal.
Q.
Will my online banking reflect the changes?
A.
Your online banking profile will be updated with your new account details when they are active.
above relates to my link - below relates to your link
Q.
Will there be any changes to my online banking?
A.
If you use online banking we’ll provide you with a new online banking web address in advance of the transfer that you can use before, during and after the transfer completes. In the meantime, please continue to use your online banking as you do currently.

Out of interest when it comes to tranfering accounts to Santander how will it work. For example santander basic account customers do not get debit cards but RBS/Natwest do !!Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

It'll be interesting to see how long it takes them to standardise all of their accounts. Fortunately my accounts have already been moved to Scotland.0
-
I agree with the above post.
I moved my account to Scotland over ayear ago.
The simplest thing surely is to move your account so that it cannot be Santanderised .
I have every expectation that once accounts have been transferred this site will be inundated with tales of woe .0 -
I closed my account due to transfer to Sanatander today , it seems that it will not disappear from internet banking until the next working day
Bearing in mind Monday's transactions will appear on Saturday - will the account be gone by then ?
The internet banking downtime will not affect the branches apparently , I wonder if my account will gone before that starts at midnight tonight
I should have closed the account yesterday but do not like using local branchesHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

It will be gone when you look online tomorrow.0 -
Just a heads up - I found an unexpected direct debit being taken from my account this morning - I recognised the company, but not the amount or the reference number. Called them up and they confirmed it was for someone with a different name, so got the DD cancelled by RBS and it should be refunded overnight. The company said the direct debit details had been updated by the bank, so looks like they arsed up somehow. Fortunately, there are no other new DD mandates showing against my account (got RBS to check them all off, as online only shows ones where a payment has been claimed), but probably worth being extra vigilant.0

You'd have to ask someone to look at 'back office' to see which actual instructions are set up on your account rather than ones which have been taken.0 -

No one knows the answer to that right now but you would expect Santander's purchase of the RBS customer base to include all the relevant historic behavioural information. How Santander interpret that is a different matter.0
