Browntoa, if you come back here I posted a query about the Drivecleaner you helped me with over on techie, but it slipped away quickly.0

I have done a system trestore, and this appears to fix the problem of this scam bill appearing:T .0

Alanrp, I'm sure you know this, but to be sure with system restore you do need to clear the other restore points at the same time, then switch system restore back on - This will make sure the software isn't lurking somewhere back in the system.
I post this for the benefit of anyone else who might need to do this.
On Michael Pollitt's webpage the method is set out in greater detail.0 -
My partner had this on her PC, and I just swept it with A Squared and the likes of spybot, this seemed to get rid. A Squared is a fairly good freebie package that gets rid of a lot of malware.0

To anyone who have Anti-Virus software who's supplier doesn't charge you for support - use them! There are people who can help you clean the PC for free because you already paid for their software
Some of the big AV companies will also provide free online scan tools and detailed removal instructions. At the moment we're in the "quiet" period just before launch of the new editions in Sept and most call centres are quiet-ish so have time to do remote take overs and remove the viruses for you if you ask nicely
(please... do ASK and NICELY - if you shout at the staff they'll probably not be highly motivated no matter how much their supervisors try to make sure they are

I was also plagued with the microbill window appearing, I found Spyware Doctor good for blocking this, also managed to find two of the microbill applications lurking in c:\Windows\system32...
Deleted smvalid and rmvalid (check the properties before deleting - you should see microbill in the digital signature and the date will be when you started having the problems) no issues at all since deleting these applications.0 -

The problem if you don't pay and just ignore the MBS popups is that it will gradually slow your computer and affect internet connection. Does anyone other than you have access to your computer? I was receiving MBS popup bills after our 17 yo son used my laptop! They very 'cleverly' (or sneakily and maliciously depending upon your point of view) hide the details of their [strike]extortion[/strike] payment methods on page 9 of a 13 page 'agreement' which you make when you click to say you are over 18 and want free access to certain 'adult' sites!
I used the link Donnie posted in mail 38 on this thread: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/....html?t=476740
this suggested downloading 'Brute Froce Uninstaller'. I followed the instructions and it worked a treat on my laptop... thanks again Donnie
There is another whole thread about it here too:

If you have a computer savvy friend or relative then they could solve the problem for you quite easily I think.
