They told me it had failed because the 3rd brake light (the top one) needed a new bulb and so did my left side brake. They said they cant

Did you never wonder why people were flashing and honking at you? I bet you leave your rear foglight on all year round too..........

Perhaps if you can't be bothered to check that your brake lights work once every week or so then you shouldn't be on the road in the first place!!!

They're easy to check even on your own, just back up to your garage door or the nearest wall and apply the brakes.
Brake light bulbs take minutes to replace, even a monkey could do it, something crap fit have in abundance!

I mean..... what if you had to brake sharp for a small child running out from behind a car? YES you'd stop, but the guy behind could plough right into you, pushing you into said child!

I'm sure on the back of my mot fail sheet it said I had 1 working week for a free retest if I took it away and 2 working weeks if I left it with them.Check the back of your fail sheet and read the T&C as it sounds to me like they are trying to scam a retest fee out of you with that 24 hour and not willing to do the work rubbish.

That's the treatment you get at any decent test garage. I think legally you have no right to a free retest if you take the car away and technically they have to retest the whole car?? Sure someone can confirm. ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Th car has to be returned before the end of the NEXT WORKING DAY. Sunday is not a working day so tell them to test it for free or you will report them to VOSA. http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/repository/MOT%20test%20fees%20and%20appeals%20aPR%2010.pdf

Unfortunately KF and decent don't usuall appear in the same sentance.Am hoping mine will be fixed today so I can check the back of the sheet properly(its in the car).

Saying she only has 24 hours for a free retest and then including sunday into that 24 hours when they claim they do not do tests on that day to me sounds like complete and utter bullsh** and that they are trying to con her out of a retest fee.

Not sure that's quite true, a couple of years ago (2008) I took a car to the local council run test centre, the car failed on rear fog light not working (which turned out to be an electrical fault) off the record the tester put me onto someone who could sort it for me (they are technicaly not allowed to recomend garages though sometime comon scense needs to apply) I got the car fixed and returned 2 hours later, no retest fee and he only tested the fail point.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

If you booked it in for a MOT that is all they will do, and pass & fail accordingly.

Bulbs (as stated a couple of posts above) are on the list of items which allow a free retest by the end of the next working day. As KF did not do tests on a sunday you have until monday evening to represent.

Well done ! Everyone else is more interested in putting the boot into the OP rather than helping them.

You will have saved the OP £54 by putting that up - a gold star is on its way !
Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.

    !

Why would they? The OP had a working brake light.

Do you flash and honk at people who have one brake light working?
