Ignore the 10 minute stuff in the book because it'll make you obsessed. I'm definitely with the 'day at a time' brigade.
If I'm honest, the actual 6 hours are not the worst it's the disappointment earlier in the day of not having the lifestyle choice of an evening with wine that I have to fight.
Okay, I get the book references nowand yes, what you have just said makes perfect sense, thank you :A
And thank you to everybody today that has been so supportive and lovely :A
What you say Maman, is exactly my problem. It's not the actual being AF that bothers me, in fact by 8pm tonight I will be overjoyed and excited that I am sober. What I miss is the relief when I buy and drink alcohol because I know the feelings will go awayDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
:T:T:T Go jo!!!
I agree with Maman too. 10 minutes at a time would break the day into too tiny pieces for me and make it drag. Mind you today is already going at a snail's pace here.
Also for me if I can stay strong until I get through the front door and have cooked and eaten dinner I find that's the worst bit, the rest of the evening seems easier to me after that. So just 3 steps, get the front door safely shut behind you, cook and then eat. Then all the distraction like Molls said.
Mind you I'm a great example, me! Don't do as I actually do, obviously, just follow my great theory!!0 -
Hey all can i retract my "declaration" of last night as i broke about quarter to ten and went out and bought vodka. I am still drunk and have bought more to boot.

SSG thanks for reminding me that my it's all fine once you've had dinner doesn't stick some nights. I remember making it home about 11, thinking, great I've been AF today and somehow pouring a glass of wine instead of going to bed.
Sorry to hear about the call of the voddy last night.
Hope your hangover isn't too bad. I feel I got away lightly today, all things considered.0 -

This will be no help to you at all but....... last year, when I was trying to get back in to running, we made a pact in the office that 'Wednesday was running day'. No ifs, no buts. This took any 'decision' out of the equation and no matter how carp any of us were feeling, or how demotivated anyone was (lots in my case), we were still out there.
Could you apply the same logic, somehow? If you take the decision-making part out of it, then there'll be no offy dilemma, and probably no bells, as there's nothing to have an internal dialogue about. You AREN'T drinking today. End.
But don't worry. Someone will be along withsome practical, useful advice in a minute
Apart from the actual running bit - hes talking alot of sense:eek: (only joking lurks you talk alot of sense alot of the time:A)
HUG to jo - sorry just back in hame - sorry been awol this am :A

Still stuck on 6 units a day ... can't seem to lower it for some reason ?? I was oK gradually lowering it to 6 but then hit a wall
Still - better than than 10 or 11, I guess
Only a couple of days with just 4 units in the last month, and no AF days
#I seem to have lost the knack of inserting the little AF days in
