Yes, I saw that too BMF- glad I wasnt the only one to feel just a tad patronised! Must have been a slow news day! I find that Breakfast telly is are quite good at totally depressing you first thing in the morning:mad: OH has it on before he leaves for work at 6.15, then I switch it off, I like living in my wee bubble!;)

    Hi to everyone else

In the middle of a NSD, eating my packed lunch ATM.
Trying to recover from my BIG spends yesterday! Our day with inlaws was ok, came home though under pressure to have some kind of "do" for OH's 50th next month. OH is not fussed, he thinks it's just another day . We are off work for his birthday,so we were just planning to go out for a nice lunch ourselves. We cant really afford or have the space to do anything lavish. Bearing in mind that none of his rellies usually bother even sending a card, I dont see why we should cough up to do something we dont really want to do.
    I'd appreciate any thoughts - am I being a total meanie?:o

    Have a lovely day everyone:)
No 1 Offspring works outside & sometimes has to drive so we watch for the local news & weather more than anything but like you, once that door closes & it's just me left downstairs [even Pup goes back to bed!] the tv goes off!

Several thoughts re: OH. A picnic--do you have a country park or castle or something you like to visit? And the other is for people to make donations to your/their favourite charity. If anyone wants to question either of these choices, you could say you want to make the day memorable with it being a 'biggy' & wanted to do something totally different from the norm :D
Another one at long last, been a long time coming, but that takes me up to 5.

Unfortunately it does mean that if i don't spend again this month I will only manage 17 NSD - but boy would that be brilliant - heres to that then.....

Off to catch up on thread

I do like your approach! Personally, I feel if you can look at the benefits of what you are trying to do & treat the Challenges as a bit of fun--you're well on the way to getting things sorted :) Hope that makes sense, cuz I know what I'm talking about even if I'm not explaining it too good clown.gif

Evening all - just been catching up on the news....

CatherineMM - Wow! that's a really good cash saving...do you hire yourself out to go shopping with other people? can I book you in? :rotfl:

jinty - I agree, if your OH doesn't want a fuss then do what he wants. For my OH's 40th he didn't want a big 'do' so I booked us a weekend at a hotel with a spa nearby - it was lovely and I got some pampering out of it too so it was win win all round :):)

Well...drum roll.. i have resisted dress today and am declaring NSD #8! which is my first ever NSD target - whoo whoo!! :T:T:T Not sure if I'm now going to up my target, or see how many more I can get above 8. My reckoning is that I can usually do a Sunday, and then 2-3 days in the week ...we'll see ...

    JAN NSD 11/16

  • Evening everyone, today is NSD 10.

Tomorrow we have food shop being delivered and last minute holiday stuff (which is just really an excuse for me to go into Boots if I am honest :D)

Jinty I don't think you're being a meanie at all, my OH is just the same he hates a big fuss on his birthday and a big bash would be his least favourite way to spend the day. His last birthday we went for a lovely long beach walk with the dog and took some lunch with us, then had takeaway on the night and it was a lovely day. Ask him what he wants to do and go with that, no point celebrating in a way neither of you really want. :)
  • Well today was a NSD for me so one down, 6 to go!
Going to get to grips with food shopping again, starting February!

Got married to my lovely hubby on 12/11/2011 :D
