Always was right from fridge ot room temp for us. Boil kettle let cool for 30 minutes pour into sterilised bottles and stir until dissolved. Tighten lid and cool some more then put in fridge. When out and about we used to take the 200ml cartons or ready made stuff, that was just under 7oz which seemed to do our LO fine.
Dr Brown bottles are great, we had them for first 2 kids but got rid of them all once youngest grew out of bottles at about9 months instead prefering cows milk from a cupMF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -

DD flatly refused to drink a warm bottle, room temp or she wasn't happy. Was a lot easier for night feeds though and about the only time she wasn't an awkward little madam0

Can the breastfeeding police lay off? formula has saved the lives of hundreds of thousands of babies since it was invented, and it is really is an adequate substitute which plenty of babies do just fine on.
x-posted with this but I quite agree, I feel quite guilty enough that I couldn't get BF to work for more than a couple of days for my son, without people adding their BF campaigns to a thread which didn't ask for such opinions. That said, he is doing just fine and thriving on formula.0 -
We did it "properly" for about a week before giving up, and I was half BFing then too! Switched straight to microwave after that.
This thread hasnt asked about BFing, she's asked whether to warm bottles or not, I'm not sure why someone felt the need to ask why she wouldnt be BFing as its not really a relevant question?Mummy to

With Dr Brown bottles there is no little disk type cap so shaking sends 70 degree formula all over the kitchen. I used ti save the scoop from a box of formuls and starilise it with the bottles for stirring factor.

i had my dd 19 days ago and was told by my midwife that each bottle is to be sterilazed just before use & made up fresh :eek: and laughed as she said it, saying it is no need but she must say as it is new goverment recomendations mmmmmmm
so i steralize 4 bottles at a time put boiled water in one or more if im going out & add milk as required i use this

to take to bed & when we are out, best £2.50 ive ever spent you just add as many scoops to the individual pots as needed and empty into the water when baby is ready
i cant imagine steralizing everytime baby wants a bottle the bubs would be screaming for 15mins before her bottle
you do what is best for you0 -

it is very important to boil the kettle first then use the water within 30 mins
you could stand the bottle in cold water or hold under the running cold tap to cool it
the current advice is to make each feed as you need it , the death of a baby was put down to the bacteria in the formula not being killed off by using water hot enough and this is when the guidelines changed
if you are going out you can take hot water in a flask and add the powder as needed.. this should be stored in a small container that has been sterilised
when dd was born 10 years ago i stored her feeds and nothing bad ever happened to her either, but as daphne descends says, why would you take the risk npw we know the dangers?
also, to add the guidelines do not recommend using boiled bottled water unless you have no other choice - better to use freshly bolied tap water
its very scary the amount of people who think water out the bottle is already sterile, and also the amount of people who rinse stuff out the steriliser under the tap before they use it!£608.98
