I got accepted today, when do i find out my limit? The email i received suggests i wont know until i receive the card :(

I have a mortgage with my OH but shes a student. I'm on just over 30. Credit limit not bad - im only 23 though so havent had too much of a chance to ruin it yet ;)

    Im hoping for 5ish.

I have - 5600 with Abbey at a shocking 24.9% starting next month (1.9 for past year or so). I thought the low rate ended in january - shame really because i get a nice xmas bonus which will knock it down to 4.

Also have a mint card with 4k limit, nothing on it and Virign card with 1500 limit and nothing on it. Should i close those? I dont use them -dont even know the pin numbers.

If everyones the same you get you email, then your pin in the post, then your card with the limit on the top right of the letter.

As yet no-one has been able to find out their credit limit before getting the card as far as I know.

thanks - i tried to click but i get a javascript error so cant get it to work.. will thank you when i get home :)

i'll take the card anyway, even 1 or 2k at 3.9% is better than a loan :)

Why don't you phone to close them and see if they offer you any nice incentives to keep your custom? I hear this happens often, they will offer 0% periods or low LOB offers.

I wouldn't put all your eggs in the M&S basket just in case - I only got offered £2k (upped it to £3k) when I really needed £5k. If your card is soon to increase it's rate to that disgusting amount, you might need to have a Plan B ready
  • The whole process takes about 2 weeks. Got my card today and it tells you the credit limit on the letter. Fortunately I got £6000 and balance transfered today.:T

  • I received my card yesterday with a 6k limit. Phoned up to activate and they did the BT there and then.
  • I got my PIN yesterday after applyng on the 16th and getting a 'will contact you by post with the decison' email.

I hoped the card would come today but my postman seems to have done a bunk.

I'm hoping for 7/8kish so I can transfer my entire Egg balance and get rid of it as it is no longer the card it was.

How spooky! As I pressed submit, the postman arrived! (I'm just reading about Jung's synchronicty theroy too).

Alas I only got £2k. Boo hoo. Will call as others have done and see if I can get another £1k at least. I'm self employed, maybe that make a difference?

This card would help me out a lot and help me tackle my debts. Does anyone know how they define income? Is it just Hubbys actual self enployed wage? Or can you include tax credits, child benefit, carers allowance etc? Income looks bad with just his wage but with tax creidts etc it looks healthy.
