  • Really tossing this one up:think: , I have an amex at 4.9% LOB with a balance of £6152 outstanding, would it be worth trying to switch it to this card? or should I leave well alone, your thoughts would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

i wasn't planning to make any more credit applications in the next few months, as i've just got a new lloyds card at 5.5%lob... but thought what the hell, as there's no transfer fees...and applied, didn't expect to get through but i did...:D
now hoping to get 4K so i can transfer my virgin card onto there too ;)

    so...the answer is...give it a go!!!

  • Just put my application in, don't hold up much hope as I already have three cards in total, two with balances and one cleared, should have cancelled this card ages ago. Would be nice if I could swop my 4.9% to 3.% as every little helps, will wait and see!!

  • I got my card through today with a limit of £1500 :( I managed to increase it to £2500 & was told to ring back in 3 months if I want it increasing further. I already have 3 cards (2 with a balance & 1 cleared) so that might have something to do with it!

Can you ask M+S to lower your limit if they gave you a higher one? I'm waiting to be put on the electoral roll before I apply, credit limit is pretty good according to experian, albeit 1 late payment, and I only want to transfer £500, scared if I get a higher limit with a low apr, might be tempted to spend on it.

Following that link to another thread it seems that would be a bad idea!!

I woud just put what you need on it and then give the card to someone to look after or chop it up into little star shapes like I did with my Visa's!

I got 2k on the new card, rang up and increased it to 3k (wanted more really) but maybe because I've got 11k on Goldfish and 5k on two other cards?

Did a full limit transfer there and then which at 3.9% is great but still hoping to pay it off asap.

    Good CS aswell.

  • I'm really disappointed - I got my card today with a £2k limit - my lowest since I was a student! With an income of more than £30k and fairly good credit score I thought I might get at least £5k, which is what I need really.

She also said after 4 months I can call back and they will review my limit to see if they can increase it. The 3.9% offer will still apply then (it applies for BT's within 6 months of opening) so I am hoping if I am good between then and now they might increase it for me :)

    P.S.
I've just been accepted for a Post Office CC today so I'm gonna transfer my balance there first, then try to increase the M&S limit before the BT 6 month deadline is up. Will just have to behave in the meantime won't I.
  • i got 2K too, but rang and they gave me 3. I must remember to cancel my halifax card.
  • 8K. Very happy!!
