Credit Limits on New M&S 3.9%LOB/12m 0% Purchases Card

Just wanted to give an update of my experiences on this card. Applied and was refused initially. Wrote a letter outlining some facts to them that they probably couldn't consider from the forms.
Anyway today I got a phone call from then, actually apologising (!!) for their initial decision and reversing it.
I spoke to the guy about credit limits; he reiterated the theme which appears common in this thread, that they're unable to confirm until the card is issued.
However he did say something interesting which was that if I'm unhappy with my limit, to phone up again and ask for more - they'll normally grant some more. And, for those going for the LOB, they'll do a limit review if you ask them to just within the 6 month limit so get those DDs set up!
Good luck everyone! The above facts belong to everybody; the opinions belong to me; the distinction is yours to draw...0 -
Just got my card 2 days after the pin 5k limit and im happy with that.0

Out of interest did anyone who put down that they have large debts on other cards get a higher than the norm rate or a lower than the norm rate?
Trying to see if they deliberately allocate a low rate for people who are likely to transfer big sums etc. I doubt they do but it would make interesting reading.0 -
ha! hope they do. Dh and I both applied and got accepted
I sent back the agreements yesterday separately and enclosed short letters with both asking politely as a request for a limit of £3500 on both so we could transfer away from our cap-one 18 month deal. I gave them details of the balance transfers anyway just in case.
*fingers crossed*0 -

I hoped the card would come today but my postman seems to have done a bunk.
I'm hoping for 7/8kish so I can transfer my entire Egg balance and get rid of it as it is no longer the card it was.
As an update, M&S upped limit to £3k which is obviously not enough to clear my Egg so I applied for the MBNA card this morning with the 0% 12 month balance transfer (2% fee though) and got it accepted immediately (after a 'few more details' phone call) with an £8k limit so transferred the remaining Egg Balance that I couldn't pass on to M&S.
I was worried with 2 cc applications so close to each other but it worked and all my balances are now either 0% or 3.9% for life.
Now all I have to do is pay off any new purchases every month on my existing cards and chop up the new ones so all money goes on reducing the debt. Where have I heard that before?! :rotfl:0 -
I got my card yesterday and have been given a £3000 limit. I needed £5000 and asked if I could have an increase when I phoned to do a balance transfer, but no joy I'm afraid  The operator (who I had a hard time trying to understand!) said to ring back in 6 months and they'd review my limit.0

Got mine today - 2 days after PIN. £8k credit limit0

Not got my card yet, but it was sent on 27th. I asked what my credit limit was and he told me no problem, 7k which is not bad at all. I thought I'd be cheeky by asking what limit was, but didnt expect an answer.

I was given a credit limit of £1.5K, much lower than my other credit cards (all 5 between £5K and 12K), but they raised it to £2.5K on request when I telephoned to activate the card.
As previously remarked, they seem to have allowed an amount of leeway to increase the original limit provided and once again they suggested that I could ask for a further increase after five or six months.0
