hey chris blue, lovely to hear from you, I'm sorry OH is out of work still, I hope things pick up for you soon.
Kavics too late.... I have already ready memory girls 2 previous threads and am now on her latest although it is going to take me some time to plough through it.
Am getting some very good ideas though, I really need to, if I am going to try and make up the £100 that the house/food account will be down each month with the lack of wages. Am already on the case with the electric, am trying sooo hard with this. Am trying to wean OH off things too. Am definitely going to start making my own bread again, with my kitchen aid mixer, this should make the kneading bit a lot easier, then I'm going to bake lots of loaves in the oven at the same time, then freeze them, and do the same with cakes etc, and try and cook everything on a lasagne day that way the oven will be full and much more cost effective. Still need to cut the shopping costs, I really shouldn't be so faddy with my diet, buying diet foods just doesnt help the budget, eating less however will, and will help me lose weight!!! how hard is that!!??
OH goes away on friday, so I am going to spend friday night writing a list of rules for me to stick to which is a must if I am going to pay off my debts by the end of the year, survive christmas and not have OH have to put extra money in the house account!!
Going to have to speculate to accumilate a tiny bit, I love my tea, posh tea too unfortunatley, but I had a thought that if I bought myself a vvvvveerrrry cheap tea strainer £2.50 on ebay then I could buy tea leaves and they are strong enough to use more than once and they are cheaper than normal posh tea. And to get OH to eat bread and to save on the heating, I need to buy another big bread tin, as he wont eat the little loaves.... yes I know!!!???? Just bought that on ebay for £3.84. So not massive amounts if it saves us so much in the long run, just need to keep at it.
Right bed I think, work tomorrow. grrr just went to shut the chickens in, and one still has its head poking out and wont go back in, sooo annoying!
Speak soon

hey missy, just found your diary and am a couple of pages in so thought I'd pop a post on the end to say hi and get myself subscribed. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Morning luv, you are doing so well with paying OU, planning ahead etc.
Last nights sleep was terrible - I don't know why I pressed the wrong button on my bread machine, but once it is started you can't stop it. I'd been planning on it being ready for 7.30am, instead it was ready for 2am, so had to set an alarm and get up to take it out.
That got dogs up, DH, then DS got up (things on his mind) wildlife outside started screaming. Really didn't want to get up today.
I am loving MGs diary (didnt read the previous ones but may hunt them down). I'm only about half way through but Hypno et al are doing the toxic bit that is happening now on her diary so it has got me thinking already and my work bookcase is definately toxic, should be buried in a deep hole covered in concrete never to be seen again :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.0 -
. Have you realized that so many people are talking about Memorygirl's diary? I wonder why:D. But it's so hard to keep up with it, day by day it feels like reading 100s of pages...BUT! After reading it, yesterday we decided to put up our new curtains which ended up a massive 9 hours clearance of washing windows, throwing away staff, moving furnitures, etc. I was so knackered last night!
I wish to make my own bread but I don't eat any:o. You ladies are talking about it and I can even smell it I swear but I can't eat as it makes me really bloated. OH only likes rolls so don't know whether it's worth for us even bothering with it.
Missy, glad you sorted out OU, it's very scary taking 2 courses at the same time (I'm doing it as well from Oct and Jan) but hey, we have to manage somehow, don't we?Though the £160 monthly repayment is driving me nuts already!
Right, better get going, I have tons to do today.

Look for knitting needles in charity shops - we have a great one here called Emmaus which is a community/second hand furniture shop/cafe/garden centre and they also have a crafters community. They have drawers full of buttons which is very very exciting.
I love the chickens - their antics are hilarious! Mine love spaghetti. one got a piece the other day and was running around the garden Benny Hill style with the other 4 giving chase. We laughed so much that we started throwing it to them and it just got more and more hilarious! I have tried explaining to them that it is about time they lay me an egg though!
Don't know if it helps but when I've been on serious food budgets before I will sit down and make a massive list of cheap meals and then meal plan away. A roast chicken is a good investment because you can get so many meals out of it. Trout is dead cheap and delicious - I press it in cajun spice then fry or bake. Make friends with allotment holders and vegetable growers and use surplus veg to make soups like minestrone. I will have a think about what my favourite cheap dinners are. Jamie Oliver's 'mother recipes' are good to - you make one base recipe and then add different things to vary it.
It will be a good exercise for me to because I need to reduce my shopping budget whilst dishing up healthy, nutritious dinners for fussy children!Commercial Debt £14587.22 Student Debt £7747.73
Debt to family and friends £270/540 Total Debt £22604.95/22874.95 :embarasse0 -
Hey Missy been reading about your chooks, OU etc and you're doing really well. I love to meal plan and have battered my food budget down this year. I'd LOVE a breadmaker but as i live alone and have a small freezer I'd end up just eating it all in a oner and be fat as a house!!!! Glad things are going well with the new job too. Mine is good but got lots of cleaning/tidying/organising to do. XXX'The road to a friends house is never long'0
