if you get nowhere with the ombudsman (or maybe at the same time) try getting in touch with Gill charlton who writes for the Daily Telegraph travel section and may take up your son's case if she feels it has merit. She has successfully overturned rejections in other cases where the the terms of the contract may have been seen to be unfairly or over-zealously applied. In the Tesco terms and conditions there are different criteria for "valuables" and "personal possessions" as i intimated in my previous post and those may provide some room for maneouvre.0

Where did i disagree with anything?Be good to the young on their way up you might need them on your way down.0 -
thanks for all your replies, I think I will take it to the obudsman, I was sort of giving up, but then read the posts And I agree he could not have reasonably taken his luggage out of the taxi. If I had been a taxi driver and my passanger tried to take luggage out I dont think I would have been best pleased! And I am pleased most people see the taxi driver as a legit authorised attendee of his luggage. I will let you know how I get on!0

Would it be the same if son had put his luggage in the boot then before he actually got in the taxi the driver sped off?If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in0
