It was a bit strange WLM sending that text. Christmas seems to make everyone a bit emotional.

YesI thought it was weird too. Perhaps he was just thinking back to this time last year maybe? Not heard anything since though.

  • Glad you and littlie had a lovely Christmas - I must admit, I thought exactly the same as you last night...nothing like getting into your own bed:D We stayed at my sis on Christmas night (I slept very badly), then my Mum's on Boxing Day (better sleep). Girls went to stay with their dad last night so I went to bed at 9.20, read my book for ages and have just got up now:o

Good buys for you at the shops;) I need to get my organisational skills into gear for the new year - every year I try to get all motivated with my new notebook etc ready to sort everything out. I usually buy one of those pukka pads with dividers so I can have all things written together in 1 place - shoppings lists, meal plans, list of my direct debits, any other useful bits etc;) I'm off to Arg0s today for a bathroom storage set so might grab a new book then.

What are your plans for NY Eve?

Me and DD are going to stay in and get a takeaway delivered on NYE. She will stay up for as long as she can (prob 9.30pm) and I will just watch Jools Holland. I don't mind this at all and at least I won't have a hangover. NYD everyone is coming round to ours. I'm going to do the aldi 4 bird roast.

    What is everyone else doing?

Got into work today and the only thing working is the photocopier:mad:No systems or Internet. Am typing this on my phone. I've already sorted out my accounts and written up my new diary. Going to go mad if I have to do another 6 hours of this

Looking forward to my HM soup and bread for lunch though :)

Two pieces of bad news today. My friend called and said that her Dad has terminal cancer. He was in remission for lymphoma and he now has leukaemia. They have given him 4 months at the most.

Also a couple of months ago my mum's friend was found to have a tumour on her pancreas. At the beginning of december the hospital said she was a prime candidate for surgery. She was taken in yesterday to have the operation today and the surgeon wouldn't do it. It doesn't look good. It's all so sad. These are both really lovely people. What a bl00dy horrible disease.

Thank you both. I just keep thinking what their poor families are going through. What a rotten end to the year :(

The temperature has suddenly dropped here so my lightweight jacket I put on this morning was useless. Got home tonight and the boiler had a red light on  even though there was hot water and the rads were hot  I followed the manual again and it seems to be OK now (i.e. the correct lights are on) but i will need to get it looked at soon.

DD went to a birthday party this afternoon so she has had tea so I've taken advantage of the situation and am cooking myself something I know she wouldn't like - salmon & cod fishcakes (they have a hollandaise sauce in the middle of them...mmmmm) with cous cous and sweetcorn. Hope they're nice because I am now starving. Will be ready soon.

£1.77 PAD to Barclaycard. I am seriously thinking about increasing my DD by another £50. It is so nice seeing the balance come down :)

    Hiya hon,

so sorry to hear about lovely people having horrid disease, someone I know has just had to have a mastectomy, aged 33. Life can seem hard work, bleak & depressing at times, but we just have to keep going day by day & try to appreciate all the good times we have with people. Easier said than done I know, but it was my losing my own mum that got me motivated to clear my debts, you just never know what's going to happen.

Do you have one of those carbon monoxide detectors ? I'm very concerned about your dodgy boiler :(

    xx
