Lol, likewise. I'm still meaning to make a door curtain I thought about last year. As well as a drawer full of mending and fabric that I thought I'd be creative with. Once we've finished decorating I'll make a list of everything and see how much I can get done. I was wondering if I could make a patchwork quilt for the spare room but as a long term project - there's no way I'm attempting that before Xmas!
I am doing a tapestry at lunchtimes at work though so I'm muddling through with something else. I wouldn't get time if I left it at home.New year, no debt! Debt free date - 02/01/07 :j :j :j0 -
Well next Sunday sounds good to me! I didn't manage to start sewing til Sunday and only sewed the bodice and skirt of the dress together, partly because I had to stop and re-cut a piece. Never mind, will do the zip and hem it tonight.0

I'm going to stick to something manageable (for once) in this timeframe!
1. Take up Hubby's jeans (I've pinned the legs)
2. Mend at least 1 item per day from the mending pile (mostly buttons/hemming etc.)0 -

Patchwork is REALLY quick to do.. the longest bit is cutting out all the bits. I made 3 cot quilts in abot 4 hours.. once I had cut out all the little squares.. you'd easily get that done for christmas!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
This is my sort of tread.:D
1)I am going to finish a jacket I started a couple of weeks ago but not had chance to complete.
2)Make a skirt and top for saturdays works xmas party.
3)Make a door curtain which I have been meaning to do for ages.
It's not a huge amount but it will get me started again.

i'd agree. the patchwork part is really quick.. its the quilting part that takes ages, depending on how big a quilt you're working on and the type of machine. If you're talking about a patchwork-quilt layer-backing type job, where you've sewn through all three quilts.. then that can be a right .. bleeeeeeeeeeeep.. manoevering the quilt around in the machine ain't easy, and handsewing that part takes forever!
i've got my gran's quilt to do next - probably start that tomorrow - and i am *not* looking forward to it, i'm never doing another one!!!

Caught this thread yesterday - forgotten how much I LOVE sewing.
Erm - patchwork duvet cover anyone? All the fun of patchwork - but without all the hard work of actually quilting. Just sew around 3 1/2 sides and pop a couple of ties on the bottom edge.
Took me about 3 hours (2 films) to whip up a cover for the spare room out of a pile of old pillowcases I "liberated" from my airing cupboard. With the pine headboard it all looks very "little house on the prairie" in there.
Can you tell I keep popping in to take a look - Blush!!

Ooh lovely, a sewing thread!
This weekend I made 2 covers for my MIL, for her bread maker and food mixer, they are now wrapped up for Christmas. I hope she'll be pleased - she's often admired mine anyway
I've just ordered myself a dressmakers form, I've been wanting one for years, and some new shears. I can't wait for them to arrive. To keep me going, next weekend I'll be making a 'pinny', as part of a friend's Christmas present, from some nice 'festive print' cotton.
When my 'dummy' comes (must think of a nicer name for her!), I can't wait to get weaving on some summer dresses.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -

Oh, my kind of thinking! I made a patchwork duvet for ds out of a pile of dh's old shirts - so quick, and looks great! For the bottom edge I cut the button-up section off one of the shirts and fitted it into the edge of the duvet - instant closure with very little effort!"Then, when every last cent
