  • Hi pigpen, the tassels are very easy to do...
find a cassette CD case, or something solid with the required length for the tassels. Wrap around the yarn on the CD case 30-40 times or even more depending on the thickness of the yarn and hoe fat you wanted the tassels to be. Cut the yarn at the bottom. Take a separate piece of yarn and thread it through the top of the wool on the CD case. Tie very tight with a double knot. Pull the wool off the CD case. Holding the top of the tassels with your left hand, take some scissors and cut the bottom to form tassels.
Cut a separate piece of yarn. Tie the yarn around the tassel and make a neck, wrapping the yarn around the tassel several times. Secure with a double knot. Thread the same piece of the yarn on a sewing needle and push the needle from the front to the back several times to secure it, then trim the bottom...

Now ou make as many tassels as you need in any project ou want...Happy tassel making!!!:p

    Somewhere simple!!

lavendar bags, cushion covers, patchwork covers are all really easy and can be very pretty and decorative additions to your home. They are small and quite to complete so good as practice pieces while you get used to your achine and the idea of sewing.

I would say don't try anything too adventurous or time consuming for your first project because you will become disheartened if it is too fiddly or complex.

I'd suggest not using expensive fabric at first either.. just in case!

    Happy stitching!

I do agree with pigpen, I have done that mistake before and it reallt put me off sewing for a while...I have been b rave to take on a dress sewing pattern and it was a oriental style dress and it gave me all the stress in the world...considering I haven't done sewing for quite sometime (about 10-15 years to be exact..) Now after making all thise simple project at home, it gave me the confidence to use my new sewing machine...and to be honest I am quite enjoying it as the satisfaction I get seeing all the finished product is priceless. Well, Happy sewing!!!:p
