I have a budget of about £200 for groceries too - to include all cleaning and toiletry products too (although, obviously, I don't do that much in the way of cleaning, so very MSE :rotfl:)

It is tough, but it is doable with a bit of effort - you can do this :T

I've just been reading through the wonderful Weezl's threads, apart from a yearning for all sorts of savoury meals at this time in the morning, and somehow having opened 7 or 8 windows with some mouthwatering recipes and ideas I really need to adopt the OS attitude.

I have today and tomorrow off, so my plan for today :
[STRIKE]Get local paper and job hunt[/STRIKE]. Nothing
[STRIKE]Shift the ironing (well actually iron it, rather than shift it.)[/STRIKE] Completed thanks to Jeremy Kyle
Make inroads in utility room including [STRIKE]phone call to council re fridge[/STRIKE].Going to cost £20 but got to be done.
[STRIKE]Recycle, go to dump[/STRIKE] Just charity shop to do
    [STRIKE]
Book a tesco delivery armed with some of weezls fantastc food ideas.
    [/STRIKE]
That's the minimum, because of course I will find at least 3 jobs to apply for today so that may take some time :)

I too need to iron the pile, rather than shift it (again).....will aim to have done so by the end of the day.

Also a trip to the tip is on the cards for me - my car is full of such delights as a broken washing machine :o

Good luck with the job hunting and have a good day x

How is job hunting going? Have you found the 3 jobs ;) ? I love ironing while the telly is on though driving OH mad cause he thinks I'm wasting electricity only (both with telly and ironing :) ).
  • Well, found one job that I saw this time last week (I ummed and arred), phoned and of course some more intelligent being than me has already got it.
Note self, check every day then apply immiediatly.

Shredded bucket loads, still more to do. However is it ironic that I found the original receipt and manual for the dyson ? £250 in 1999, sigh..worth every penny though. Think it is the only appliance in my house that made through the millenium !

Decluttered and am left with a pile for charity shop, pile for the dump.
At least 30 items are out, but still plenty to tackle in there.

I have menu planned, tesco'd and made top up lists for each week until 25th August.

    All ironing complete.
    Time for PG :)

Well done DC, you are in the zone :T. I'll see if I can catch a bit of your slip stream.

I love Weezl's recipes. If it helps anyone else here is her website for feeding a family of four for £100 a month.
    http://www.cheap-family-recipes.org.uk/index.html

I gave it a whirl (for Bob & Shirl) and found we all loved the Risi e Bisi, most of us loved the carrot cake (some objected to the raisins), I found the bread recipe really easy & liked making four loaves on Saturday & freezing them, & I liked the apple curd to put on toast.
If I was to make the pate again I would use chicken livers & I would only do the mayo again if I was really up against it.
  • TY Helen, have that bookmarked with loads of other important little nuggets, the testing /batch cooking day thread had me intrigued for ages.
Apple cereal bars are something I must try, in fact anything cereal bar orientated as I a huge bag of porridge oats left over from flap jack making.

I get so bored with making the same old same old every week. Risi e bisi, I've looked and I know I 'd have it minus the bacon, I just don't think my total carnivore meat 'n' two veg boys would. However it's something I could make for a Saturday lunch and it may turn out to be a family favourite.

My DS2 loves pate so it's something he could do.

Planning some baking tomorrow, trouble is more that is cooked, faster it disappears..

  • Hey Scrooge, am already planning some deep cleaning in the bathroom and kitchen tomorrow..

Scarey stuff this MSE eh. My housework is so up to date that I was actually cleaning grout in the bathroom today, with a wee toothbrush and a foaming bicarb solution (unheard of).

There's always something else to move on to though, to stop us getting bored ......

The only problem is that if I am away from MSE for too long, I quickly revert back to old habits. When do I know that I am cured of my flaws???
