Moving It.

Right last diary reached a year old and I like clean sparkly pages.

First instalment/introduction can be found here:

Like A Rubber Ball

Title of this diary is Moving It for several reasons.

1) I have just been accepted for a 0% for 16 months so I can move some of the nasty Marbles balance (current APR 37.95%) :T This card is the total nightmare of all cards, had it for 9 years and at one point owed £10k on it. Once I've moved some it will be down to £5415. I shall be decresing the credit limit to £6000.

2) I'm 40 something, have noticed over last few months I have a belly developing..hmmm... this is due to indulgence of the sweet sugary stuff, and the alcohol. It simply won't do. Have to move it. (

3) The clutter, it just goes on and on and on. Purchased Sheila Chandra's Banish Clutter forever (after a tip from Buffy and dfw844 on Memory Girl's diary) and and it makes so much sense.

A year ago I owed £28,911.60 today £25,837.56. DFD is now Oct 2013. At my worst in 2006 it was £36k, I think, head was too far down in the sand to work it out.

My financial aim for the rest of this year is to beat the nasty Marbles card down to at least £4k.

My emotional aim is to be me again :) Something I have noticed (and this is thanks to the Wake Up Call challenge thread and a very profound post by Pollydaydream) is that this debt shouldn't define me, yet at times I can get so down about the weight on my shoulders I lose sight of everything else. And that's where all my DFW friends on this board come into it, pick you up and dust you off, jaffa cakes, tea and a gentle shove in the right direction.

So thank you :) :T

hi DC - nice positive approach! good luck on your journey and great news on the 0% card! All our debt is 0% and it makes an amazing difference. It is really good news that you have been able to transfer some of your debt, hopefully over time as you pay off more you will get other 0% offers too

    Happy new diary :j

I have organised clutter, still far to much actual stuff but I know where it all is.

What I've come to realise is that there's no point trying to deal with the clutter in your life until you've dealt with the clutter in your head. Once you have that organised the rest will flow and you'll wonder why you didn't do it years ago.

    Good luck with your debtfreeness!

  • SH, that's my goal, get it all on 0% eventually, hopefully I'll be in single figures sooner than I thought.

Well Buffy I'm working on the plan that if I won the lottery (No chance, don't do it) or had to runaway with *Robbie Williams/Daniel Craig with 24 hours notice I wouldn't have a chance, faffing about trying to find essentials ie suitcase/bare minimum/passports etc for such an adventure.

(* delete as appropriate/insert desired name)

So am halfway through the book, after carrying out a serious bathroom delutter and feeling loads better for it.

Love to have a clutter buddy, last diary set my declutter plans sights too high, so just a couple of things a day (150 days to Xmas so that would be 300 things out !) to start.

Pooky, so true, sometimes my head is a bouncy castle full of 'to do' 'mustn't forget' 'post that' 'Get that out of the freezer' and of course 'pay that'. That's just the every day stuff somewhere in my head is another room full of all the other deeper stuff, kids, family. you know...

  • I will do the Bathroom declutter tomorrow. I promise.

Do you know what I realised, I forgot my best friend's birthday, two leaving gifts, to return some stuff to M and S, my sister's birthday present, my tax return, to clean out the fish........the list goes on. I really need help!

so you are stuck with me now DC ! xxx

    .

Do you know what I thought (apart from running away with Daniel Craig would be lovely) that if I was ill and people wanted to see me - like visit me I wouldn't let them! I remember reading What Katy did when I was a kid oh how I loved that book! Her cousin Helen(?) came to visit and got everyone to tidy up Katy's room so people could come and see her.

I would need a cousin Helen!

  • Buffy, you said those words..clean out fish..aaargh! I love to look at them but that cleaning filter malarky, dear me. I approach the job with total distaste.

Happy to be stuck with you Buffy, somewhere amongst all this stuff there is an organised, independent, financially and emotionally stable woman trying to get out.
Also guilty of having a Xmas present from M & S stashed in the wardrobe still awaiting return. Gave up on b'day cards years ago, I know it sounds mean, but I am just pants at that stuff. DH used to do it all, so I guess I'm not really changing anything.

    We will do this..

  • Course you can Elantan, have happy holidays :)

I'm not expecting to make great impressions until September (once youngest has returned to that place I'm not allowed to mention because they are already showing adverts for uniform and it drives him mad !) However I must make you aware of the level of junk.

On the upstairs landing I have a huge blue toybox full of their 'old toys' old cars, macdonalds toys, lego, dominos (no not pizza), there is signs of some early learning centre stuff in there, you get the drift ? But I now have to tell you my sons are 13 and 16 .

The reason the box is there? To stand on to open loft hatch to get ladder down.

How often do I go in loft ? Once a year.

Runs and hides with total embarrassment....
