  • Thanks for all your good wishes, the day went well, looks very promising. Should it all work out then it means I'll get my weekends back, which to be brutally honest I really, really miss. Will also mean a rise of £100 a month.

BT Bill arrived by email, heaven knows where the money for that is going to come from. This belt is going to need more tightening...

Two jobs today, four hours at each, roll on 5pm...

Glad to see that it was positive yesterday - fingers crossed it leads to something soon!

Glad it went well and I am sure that something will come up soon. I do love my weekends so I am right with you there. Sundays are the best day ever invented and you deserve to make the most of it.

  • Dilemma. Confused. Heart says one thing head says another.

Stay with present job, or go with possible new job and start at the bottom ?

Not making much sense I know, after I was so very enthusiastic earlier on in the week. So many pros and cons for each.

Write a list of the pros and cons. I sometimes find it helps to get things out of my head and onto paper. It might seem clearer then.

Or, imagine you are already in the new job. How do you feel? Would you rather go back to the old one. Then try the other way round - you are still in your present job - do you feel happier?

Agree with Poles, make a list of pros and cons for each job. I like the idea of imagining yourself in the new job. Also try writing down what makes you happy. So

    1. How do you like to fill your spare time
    2. What did you used to love doing as a kid
    3. what type of activities energise you (for example I love meeting new people)
    4. What kind of books do you like to read.

Then look at that list and see if any of what makes you happy can be found in either of the jobs. If you know yourself and what makes you happy then making the decision between both jobs might be easier.

Failing that I would always follow my heart. My friend once said to me Follow your passion, not your pension. That is what she has always done, never had money worries and is the happiest person I know.

  • Silly o'clock again.
Have done as suggested girls thank you. Passion vs pension is very helpful too.

Stay where I am comes out on top.

Reason one is although new possible job would be a stepping stone to new career, the first rung on the ladder would involve doing everything I just left in old job of four years, with no real idea of how long for. Thats the whole point of getting out of there. So two steps back before I start.

Present job, involves meeting loads of people, possible new job means working with 6 or 7 people in pressured environment, although my snapshot experience this week proved it to be happy atmosphere I can see where it it explodes ...

Present job, work every other Saturday, 2 days off in the week, loads of O/T. Possible new job, get weekends back. They pay the same hourly rate, but 4 more hours a week available at new situation.

But I think because I had a lovely day at work yesterday, (to do with sunshine and everyone feeling happy?) and I thought this is good, the doubts started to creep in. Reason one is the real crux, I don't want to go backwards...
