Morning
Thank you for your kind supportive words.
The thing is with DS1 he has an apprenticeship, he's already working in the trade, he has a college place confirmed for day release, he's getting paid. He is one of the lucky ones.
BUT his self esteem has taken a huge knock with the results. He's struggled continuously through the education system, but he's just got on with it.
His whole world fell apart with the loss of his Dad 2 years ago, and he still gets back up for more. I know kids are resilient, and I would never use that as an excuse. Just trying to put him back together and plant a seed of positive thinking within.
He knows how proud I am of him, but I've just got to let him be for a few days I think.
Me, ready to fight the world ! My job is out there somewhere.DC.

:kisses3: DC,
So sorry yesterday did not turn out the way you wanted to for you and DS.((( Hugs)).
You know I think you are brilliant . Your sons are a credit to you ... they always sound really lovely.
Be proud, chin up .... things will get better.

BTW is the "Shred" really as bad as it sounds ?? The results sound reallly impressive but I can't do press up to save my life and probably should not to Star jumps with my ankle... not that I am making excuses.:rotfl:
BUT I need to lose the "muffin"0 -
40sm, I am in pain ! 48 hours after first shred attempt and my leg muscles are tender. Can feel something that probably used to be a muscle (about 20 years ago ?) around the belly area. I can't do press ups, there is another option other than the standard press up, think I managed 3 of them. Yes - no jumping jacks or star jumps for you.
I have no doubt it works under the 'no pain no gain' heading.
DS1 is up and on with it today, can't keep a good man down.DC.

It will get easier. Have a lovely hot bubble bath as soon as you can. I like Aldi ginger bubble bath, it really soothes your muscles. Failing that try ibuprofen
Glad DS is feeling better. It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Just been browsing the web for the Shred experience and so pleased to read how normal I am after reading blog entries titled 'The Good News Is My Eyelashes Don't Hurt At All'. Pleased that everyone else has experienced the feeling of walking like a puppet controlled by strings...
Tomorrow I will try again.DC.

Lol at the eyelashes comment. When my DD was very ill a few years ago with kidney problems, she used to say that her whole body hurt, even her fingernails.....to which my standard reply was that I bet her eyelashes didn't hurt so she wasn't *all* ill!
Sorry that results were not as DS had hoped, but in time he will look back and think that he actually did bloody well all things considered!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. DC you have everything to be proud of in your son. Some people just are not cut out for academic life. It doesn't mean that they are not as good as those that are. BUT I know how vulnerable young people are and how easy it is to knock their confidence. You are right to let him work through this in his own way and just be there for him when he needs you. I have a friend who tried three times to get into the police. She passed everything every time but kept missing the timing for the run by seconds. On the third attempt (and miss) she took herself off to her flat, locked herself in for three days and did nothing but smoke and drink. She didnt smoke by the way. After the three days she picked herself up and got on with life. She always says that she just needed some space to wallow and it worked.
Now the Shred, I guess that if you are aching then it must be working. I echo Poles, a nice bubble bath after you have exercised. Did you do proper warm up stretches and cool down? That always helps to ease the aches. I am sorry to tell you though that the only way to get rid of those aches when exercising is to start again the following day. Do allow yourself some rest days though as that helps the muscles to repair and get ready for the next onslaught. ENJOYSome days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
