Two other options on job hunt - a milkman or a negotiator/admin asst in new estate agents, no experience in either. But then if I don't try I wont know .DC.

Good luck on the job hunt DC. If you could do anything at all what would it be. How about writing down what your perfect day would look like and then post it on here. You never know we might be able to suggest things that you had never thought about doing but would be just right for your talents.
Fabby Friday is turning into Flopping Friday for me. I am so NOT getting into gear By now I should have walked Moo, had breakfast, washed dishes and commuted to the back bedroom (oops office) to start on the mountain of paperwork and planning of training courses. Instead I have read Moo2Moo's diary, your diary, written on my diary and I am still sitting in BED:eek::eek: It is so unlike me. I must get on now or I will be being sacked never mind apply for Voluntary redundancy. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Oh yes Cheri meant to reply to your voluntary redundancy post last night...will pop over in a mo.
What would I like to do ? I'm at that second career turning point. Been a working part time mum for 10 years now.
The career I 'had' was within the railway industry, but no chance of that down here. Trouble is the only 'transferable' skills I have on paper is supervisory/admin/office duties. Big service industry down here is care work, now I'm on the fringe of that in current position, but have seen the real thing and I know I can't do it.
I want to be busy ! I'd be happy order picking, shelf stacking, delivering, see I'm veering away from the office jobs?
Going to call the dairy re the milkman vacancy, not sure what the early start is.DC.

Brilliant. Know just what you mean about being busy and doing anything. Love the sound of the milk round. OH hankered after being a postie in rural Wales. I have been in Admin for ever. You will have tons of transferrable skills. You just need to think about them. You can adapt most admin skills to other roles.
I just want to be happy. I know it sounds like a cliche but I seem to have burned out of "ambition" when I have realised that all it does is bring stress. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Same here. I had all my ambition knocked out of me when I worked for a major high street bank. I now work for a private bank, in a beautiful location, 20 mins drive from home. I don't enjoy the work but I enjoy going to work (if that makes sense??!) I would rather be doing something else but I know that I am far more fortunate with my work circumstances than other single parents I know. I would like to be a painter and decorator or a property developer but I have neither the money or the guts to give up what is a very well paid (for local) job. At the moment I have to think about security for my DD.It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -

Yep Cheri, just something I can get on with. Decent wage, avoidance of office politics (I know it's everywhere). Don't feel the need to prove myself in the job stakes, just the satisfaction of a job well done will do.
Interview is with NHS, local offices, sounds interesting. I say local, will need to drive 30 miles a day, but the benefits will be getting out of this small town every day. I love living here but it does suffer from 'everyone knowing everyone'.
But look at you are you excited ?DC.
