Yay - found a receipt from January when I took DD to chiropody so sent that in to get money back - £10. It all helps.

Updated my signature - now paid off nearly 14% of cc debt.:D

Im still filling in spending diary - Ive got into it now so wont stop that. It has really helped.

I really believe I have a new attitude to debt now and spending. I bought a pair of leggins for older DD yesterday and paid cash. Before my LBM I would have paid on card everytime. Then conveniently forgotten about the purchase.

Only doing one shift a month in other job now - thankfully - enough to keep up my registration (nursing) without killing me. Nursing and teaching in the same week was just too much to bear.

Anyway. Thanks for reading. I read Martins blog about publishing some diaries. Think this one would be like watching paint dry but hey its my diary and if its boring who cares?

Well done on getting the balance transfer, every little helps as they say! It's good that your attitudes to spending have changed too, it will help you get rid a lot quicker!

I don't think your diary is boring!

  • Hi All
Not posted for a year now! Decided I needed to come back on and get re-focused as I am going to take the plunge at 31 and apply to med school in 2012. This means giving up my now £42,000 a year job! Scary. (Well not give up completely, I plan to work on bank) Anyway I was pleasently suprised when I updated my signature to find I had paid £7000 off my credit cards in that year! : ) I now need to step things up over the next 23 months and become debt free before going to uni.

    Plan

    1. Reduce £900 monthly budget to a £150 weekly budget (extra £300 a month for credit cards)
    2. Make a list of all food in the kitchen and challenge our self to live off it for as long as possible (only aloud to buy stuff kept in fridge)
    3. Start a spending Diary
    4. Look at DD's again and see where I can make further savings
    5. Create section on kitchen notice board to keep track of everything
    :eek:Highest starting debt = CCards £17,113.19 + Overdraft £5,200 19th Sept 2009
:D Now CCards £10,131.13, just over £1000 on littlewoods BNPL 3th Oct 2010
 Target debt free, apart from mortgage by Sept 2021 ready to go to Med School

Well - here I am up at 1.54am because Im full of cold and risk waking DH up if I dont get up.

Work is a nightmare at mo - got inspection team in so its very stressful. Consequently Ive been spending more on comfort eating. Oops!
Also said I would do a shift at the hospital Sunday so it's a hard week full stop.

Well Virgin cc rang me last night. I have just transferred some of my balance off their card to Barclaycard at 0%. Virgin said as a valued customer we are offering 0% on balance transfers. I said well I dont need that at moment come back in March when my other 0% expires. They make me laugh. If I was late with a payment I bet they wouldnt be saying that then.

I cant wait to get these things paid off. I hate them and the misery they cause people.

Aw my little dog next to me is asleep and obviously having a dream about chasing rabbits!!

Anyway - going back to bed now. Stressful day tomorrow. Good night all x

Hope you're feeling better now, and your day yesterday wasn't too bad.

well - got over nightmare week - just.

My efforts at saving are just not good at the moment. I need to get things back on track. There just always seems to be another reason. Now it's my other DD's birthday. Got her a bike from e bay. Cheaper than new and she loves it but still a big cost.

DH has been doing food shopping and the bills have been increasing all the time. He definately bought more food than we needed last week. I've had to stick alot in freezer. I cant do everything though. Maybe I will switch to online shopping now. At least it can be controlled then.

So- bit down about the spending but should be able to get back and focus on it now.

Going out for drink with good friend. I tell her about everything else to do with my life except my debt. Why is that??

I don't tell anyone about my debt either - or if I do I make fleeting references to it, like it's not too high, and I just have a bit of a balance on a credit card. It's funny isn't it!

At least if you've managed to freeze the extra food, you should be able to spend less on a later week!

    Thanks jwil:)

I have started on line shopping. Seems much easier as neither of us have any time so that is a big help. Although..I cant help resenting seeing that £5 go on delivery charges.

It's now coming up to other DD's birthday. DHs birthday this week aswell. I would love to feel happy about birthdays instead of thinking 'Oh more expense'. Does anyone else feel this way about birthdays or is it just me? Hubby wants to go for meal out and his mum is going to babysit.:)

I have managed to put some Christmas money away thankfully. I have not been able to do that for years. It just always went on the credit cards.

It's half term now and I have no nursing shifts booked. The money would be nice but Im glad of the rest to be honest. I can tidy up and sort the house out and possibly find stuff to sell on ebay. Although seeing as alot of my clothes come from ebay anyway then that is a long shot!

Cant wait until my next credit card payment goes out and I can work out % paid off again. What a geek!!:o
