  • Hmmmmmm. I am not feeling the love for Approved food at the moment.

I placed an order yesterday because they basically hooked me in by advertising a product I wanted at a very good price which then meant I spent an additional sum to make sure I bought enough to justify the £5.25 delivery charge. My order went through and payment was taken without issue. Today, I received an e mail informing me that one of the products (the item I had been lured in by and particularly wanted of course!) was out of stock and I would not receive it, instead they would credit my account with the value of that item and that credit would be set against my next purchase. The rest of the order will be delivered on Monday.

I am not happy with this as why on earth did their system allow me to add this out of stock item to my basket and then pay for it? Also, I am unhappy because delivery charges are based in a maximum weight and if I had known this item was unavailable I would have probably not continued with the order or would have had the opportunity at least to add something else to the order to make the most of the weight allowance I have paid for. The item was quite heavy and so in effect I am paying for it not to be delivered. Also, why not credit my card - why should they keep my money until the next time I buy - they should not assume that I will and it is simple to put the credit back on my card. Seems like a good scam to have an interest free loan if they manage to do this to lots of people.

I immediately e mailed customer services and the sales department asking them to cancel the whole order and refund my money but they have ignored me. Whether or not the order will arrive ion Monday remains to be seen but I do feel rather cheated and probably won't take the risk of ordering again.

Two previous orders have been OK except my first order contained two large bags of crisps that were opened and consequently very stale. I did not report this - just wrote it off. Wish I hadn't now.:(

Some of the stuff is a bargain but just be aware that you may not get what you order and pay for!

I fully understand your frustration at what has happened, twohooter, and I can assure you that it is a most unusual occurrence, especially since our stock control system was last improved. However, mistakes can still happen and I have passed this post on to the CS Dept. I am sure that they have not ignored your email; rather that it was not seen in time before the weekend.
Regarding the credit to your account, this is the default procedure, and one that the vast majority of our customers are happy with, but a refund can easily be made if you prefer.
Regarding the broken crisp bags in your first order, we encourage customers to inform us of any breakages and they are always credited or refunded, if they prefer, for such an item.
Please be assured that it is not our intention in any way to deceive our customers and that we make every effort to rectify any problems that may arise.
If you could post your order number here, I will pass it on so that the CS team can identify the order on Monday morning and contact you.

Thank you for your comments. My order number is 587173. I contacted customer services at 3.30pm on Friday so assumed it was in good time for them to action prior to closing at 5pm. I expect it is now too late to stop the delivery scheduled for Monday and therefore hope I will be compensated for delivery charges made and my card refunded as requested.

Received my first order on Wednesday and whilst happy with the quality of the goods received was dismayed at seeing the delivery firm used.

DPD are dire and I have actively stopped shopping with any company using this firm.

Paying over 5 pounds for delivery, this firm offers virtually no rescheduling options for the customer who works. Add to the fact I specifically stated at checkout that goods could be left in our wendy house, we live in a secluded area and this is a suitable solution but it seemed that the instructiins were not passed on to the delivery firm or igored, there was no mention on the information to track my order.

Also going from past experience they wouldn't anyway as they require a signature.

We only received our order by pure luck that the driver was in our area late enough and that oh happened to be home early that day but in future as in the past, using this firm would then involve me driving, on my weekend, to collect something I have already paid delivery for.

So as much as I was happy with goods, website etc, the delivery choice will prevent my further custom.
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

Totally different experience for me. The last DPD delivery I had from approved foods , I was given a one hour slot and was able to track in almost realtime , showing a map of where the delivery truck was and how many deliveries it had to make before it arrived at my house.

Correct, you get a 1hr slot of their choosing but if it is not convenient and you try to reschedule you are given a time block, 8till 12, 12 till 5 etc, I have never had a specific hour delivery option, if no one is in till 4 then 12 till 5 still is of no use.

Ive had far less issues with DPD than any other company. I did have an issue before christmas with a package that was sent firstly via my hermes and then DPD and it was delivered and left with a neighbour when I wasnt in. I actually called them up, you can find numbers for the individual depots on the say no to 0870 webpage, cheaper than the 0844 number, they tried to sort out the issue, they also have a twitter page.

If you do hit problems Ive found them to be far more helpful than some of the other companies. If you rearranged a time online and then werent going to be in and you called the depot, they'd sort it out for you, my local one certainly tried to help as much as they could, they didnt cause the problem I had, that was amazon.

Sorry to hear this. The service received does depend on the area/driver/volume of work and no doubt other variables. Generally our customers are more than happy with DPD. However, I will pass this on to the CS Dept., though to follow up a specific issue, an order number is required.

I've called them on numerous occasions to advise no one will be in and to either reschedule for later in the day or to just leave in the wendy house, the wendy house option is provided on all orders we do and my depot can do neither. I've had no issues with anyone else, I ordered every Christmas present last year online so had alot of companies doing this. I'd just prefer these companies use rm, at least your local depot is usually close by.
