Just done my first order with Approved foods, to be honest I am not sure if I will be doing another one. Even with the delivery charge I got some good buys BUT it took me so long to go through to decide what I needed, I think if you factor in the time taken its not worth it. Also I noticed that some of the food was dated 2012  I am quite happy to eat out of date food but I didn't order anything a year past the date! Has anyone ordered anything from 2012 (obviously these were the best bargains) and how did you find it?

You dont always get to see the dates on the food before you order although when you are shopping, some of the items do tell you how past the best before date they are. Tbh, Ive got stuff I bought from approved foods over a year ago and Im sure it will still be fine to eat, packet foods.

When I hovered the mouse over the item, it told me the best before date. Whether this is the date I will actually receive remains to be seen.

Ah well, I gave up on approved foods after two items that I really wanted and purchased at a massive discount were forgotten from my order by the picker and then put back on the shelves for someone else to buy. To be fair that was one of the very few problems I had with the company, but as I said before, when they brought the minimum spend to £15 plus the delivery charges, given that I live in a town that has a B and M, home bargains and the next town has a wilkinsons plus loads of pound shops, I thought Id just give them a try instead.

Ive had some amazing bargains from approved foods during the time I purchased from them, boxes of curry paste for a penny, 5kgs of macaroni for £5, they also had some really good bargains on packs of tofu, also stuff like cat food, spring water, crisps so on the whole for me, its been more positive than negative.

But home bargains in particular, you can get items that match approved foods prices, no delivery charge and the food is in date as well. Plus, the approved food stocks change so often, by the time you've placed an order the following day theres stuff you want but you cant afford to buy it due to the delivery charge.

Yes, that is the date on the item you will receive.
We do sometimes have the same product on at different prices, which reflect the amount of date left on the items, but these are stored separately and picked as different products.

Got my delivery yesterday. I was impressed it was packed very well. I got loads for my money, it was a struggle to find space to put it all! I will probably do another order but it wont be for ages as I have got to get through this lot first.

The only disappointment was I brought something in foreign packaging and have no idea how to use it, as there were no English instructions, it would have been nice if even just the one packet of it came with English instructions stuck on like they do when you buy foreign products from £land.

I am sure if you tell us what it is ( or provide the link to the product if it is still in stock at AF ) , someone here will be able to tell you

  • I've just put in my first order with them and I will report back on my ponderings when the order arrives.

I think the best way to use this site is to buy the things that you will use and then do you weekly/monthly shop to fill in the gaps. You can't use it regularly or rely on it, but I think it's worth poking about every so often to see what's on there.

I'm going to try my first order shortly, takes forever to browse but some great bargains to be had!

Does anyone know what brand "Unbranded Premium Toilet Roll 9 Pack" is? My usual brand is Nicky Elite 3-ply.
