Glad you had a good time down south, Froggy, and that everything is looking so positive for you moving down there. Any further progress on moving plans?

Day off over.. Not great news from the GP, my blood pressure is 180 over 110.. Any Docs/nurses out there can tell me what that means please? My cholesterol is high as well.. Just what I needed.. Apparently I need to relax, easy to say, difficult to achieve...
So I will get 2 more blood pressure tests in the coming weeks to see if that comes down or if I need to be put on medication..

OP this month has gone out of the window as I bought a new oven, gas hob & cooker hood extractor.. These will be installed on August 6th (same day as the painter).. My car is going for a service tomorrow (around £200)...

I really need some good news to cheer me up..

  • Hi Froggy. I have had high blood pressure when I've been to the docs before. I was going through a stressful time and they sent me home with a machine to measure it twice a day at home. It was much lower at home, it was going to the docs that made me more stressed and therefore made it high. Try not to worry.

Normal blood pressure is about 120/80, aiming to be at least under 150/90.

Usually check over a few weeks as lots of times after a couple of readings it settles as blood pressure often goes up when seeing docs or nurses.

Given what been going on the last few months its not surprising its up a bit. Lots of fluid, good diet and plenty of exercise. Often worth getting to doctors a bit early for next reading sit and try and relax in waiting room (MP3 player helps drown out other patients!!)

I feel your pain about the car. Mine has MOT tomorrow (please don't fail, please don't fail, please don't fail :o) and the electric window motor thingy broke on Monday!

What a naff few weeks for you hon. Expensive and stressful. I'm not surprised your blood pressure is up.

I had similar round about January time with blood pressure. I had to go to see the nurse every couple of weeks and then luckily it dropped. I think with me, a lot of it was down to too much caffeine. I made sure I didn't have any in the morning before I went to the appointments. I also tried to relax and lost a few pounds, and made sure I was eating without any salt going in. I hope you get those things sorted without tablets. Might be worth a few really strict weeks again to see if it comes down. Mine wasn't as high as yours though. I can't remember exactly but about 150/95 ish, and when it went below 140 they were happy.

Sorry I have been a bad MFW friend again. I have not noticed your diary for a few weeks, and assumed you were just having a few quiet weeks like you said to spend with Princess.

Thinking of you and hoping some sunshine and good luck heads your way. xx

180/110 is a little high, reading could be affected by pain, anxiety etc. I think you need to have 3 readings to be classed as having high blood pressure and the readings are around 145/90.

Cholesterol is always something that baffles me, you just can't tell who is going to have high cholesterol. i.e. very slim fit people who appear to eat healthy still have it. I think part of it is hereditary but it can be improved with diet. I do hope your quiches are low in choesterol as I like it a lot! :)

Thanks for all the advice girls, really appreciate it.. Am trying not to stress, but with the job I have, its kind of difficult.. Oh well, I can only try my best..

I have just been going through a colleague home contents renewal (currently paying £30 a month).. Found her a good deal with cashback, for the equivalent of £3.40 a month.. She almost fainted.. If I could charge for my services, I would be a millionaire ;)

I have dropped my car off at the garage for its service this morning, and not heard from then since, so I hope its a good sign...

OH is at swimming tonight.. Am not going, as my back is killing me, I have already been through a whole tub of Deep Heat :(..

Chilli prawn linguine for tea tonight..

Off on our date tomorrow, Frankie & Benny's for tea followed by cinema (Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 2)...

    Cheers
    Froggy

Ps: Michelle, don't worry, you are still a very good MSE friend.. I have not been on MSE as much, but I still keep an eye on a few diaries (yours included of course)...
