Thank you all for your kind messages , my Mum is much better today.. They are still running some tests.. Docs have not found any serious causes for concern, but she will probably be on medication to regulate her heartbeat for the forseable future..

Euromillions last night.. Yes once again hit the jackpot! Another £10 in the pot...

Had a long chat with my best friend last night, and it was nice to "unload" all problems.. He is very understanding.. Makes me even more determined to get that house move going...

Glad to hear your mum is doing better. Hope the improvement continues.

I know you want to move down south, but what would your move entail - do you need to try to apply for a new job or can you transfer within your current employment? Is it just a dream, or do you have some definite plans and a possible time scale?

(Sorry if I should know all that already, but it's a very long thread and I haven't had time to read all of it.)

I could not transfer with my current job, I would have to find a new job.. My OH has already agreed with her current employer that she could move down South no problems.. She would get a payrise and a likely relocation package..
I would probably have to start on temporary basis, then go into a full time at some point later on..
The sticky bit is the house.. currently nothing sells around here.. We have 3 houses in our close that have been up for sale for the last 12 months but its not shifting.. The rental market is going great, therefore our thoughts are going that way..We would rent the current house, and just about cover the mortgage, while we move down south and rent out.. We would see the recession through, then sell the place here, and therefore using the equity as a deposit on a new place down south..
The move will take place before the end of the year...

Before the end of the year? Oooh exciting.

There are advantages to renting when you first move to a new area. Then by the time you come to buy, you really know where you want to be. I hope it all works out brilliantly for you.

I'll look forward to following your progress. You're always so good about keeping us posted. It'll be an interesting journey to follow.
