has it got sp2 on? If not, make sure the firewall is on before you connect to the net.
you may be able to get back some of your old data with these:

i am gonna be backing my files up with a 300gb ext hard drive in the future.
P.S i have emailed the seller of the memory so I can get a refund. Not paying 70 quid for summit that doesnt work. He bought it in 'error' so he obviously hasnt tested it."He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

still reakon sending to tohiba would be the best idea, unless you have plans to get rid of it (which I'd happly take from you) which would be madness. Fix it up and sell it, to fund your next laptop, better than a ornament.Scottish proverb - "Never drink whisky with water and never drink water without whisky"0

I know if i sell it on ebay its just going to haunt me. Plus there are other problems such as pcmcia slot doesnt work and usb slot is faulty. Its gonna cost me a fortune to fix(had a quote for pcmcia slot=140 quid) and even when it has been 'fixed' i may get complaints from the person who buys it in the future, when it breaks down again!
P.S toshiba have said no saying it was my own risk as they said it 'should' work and not will. Its two years old so warranty is gone. I do have compucover so ill see if they will do something!"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

If you've installed the os, and it is booting, then why are you assuming there is a hardware fault?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
