Hi,
Here is the story. This morning i recieved a memory card for my laptop this morning(this one). This was a 1GB DDR PC2100 SODIMM 266Hz upgrade for my laptop. This was definately compatible with my laptop as it had exactly the same specs as my old 256mb expansion card which has been working fine for a year.
Well i inserted it into my laptop but now all i get is the blue screen of death and the laptop just keeps reseting itself over and over and I cant make out the error message. I thought it was the card but the laptop was running ok in safe mode for a while and I checked the system info and it had said there that card had registered.
Well now to make matters worse it will not boot up, just keeps resetting over and over, it wont go in safe mode. My dvd-rom drive isnt working so it wont read the recovery disc(dvd). I have used a win xp on cd and put that in but even that doesnt work.
To rule out the upgrade I have taken all expansion memory out but it keeps restarting all the time!!!
What can i do....i am completely stumped!!!!!
P.S HERE IS THE LINK TO MY LAPTOP
thanks in advance!

I'd check that nothing has come loose in the laptop, maybe you knocked something when installing the ram?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

You could also try removing all the RAM and restarting. Lappie should go through POST and give you a number of beeps to tell you the problem. 1 long and 3 short beeps may indicate a problem with RAM (depends on your BIOS). See HERE for a list of beep error codes.
There may also be an onscreen error code which can be checked HERE
If you get a message which tells you there is a RAM problem, you at least know that the BIOS is loading. If not, it may be a matter of getting the BIOS flashed.
Post back with any findings.0 -
I think you missed thisespresso wrote::doh:
Well as you have not given the make/model number of your laptop, how can anyone possibly comment?

No I didn't miss it but when I clicked on the link I got "timed out session".
Strange the link has worked this time but it would be much easier simply to quote the make/model - Equium A60-692 P4 518/XP HE/25
:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I should be slapped with a fish for making silly assumptions (cos I could use the link I thought everyone could)espresso wrote:No I didn't miss it but when I clicked on the link I got "timed out session".

But you are right that it is easier to just quote make and model rather than just putting a link there and get's around those pesky "session ended" type thingymebobbies. "She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

yes it is the Equium A60-692, i dont think anything has come loose as far as i can tell.
its not making any beep noises. it turns on goes past xp loading screen then blue screen comes on for 2 secs and reboots . this keeps ocurring in a loop."He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

have you tried replacing the RAM with the orginal 256MB RAM module, could well be faulty module you have, as it sounds like their is a memory error on start up, hence the blue screen.Scottish proverb - "Never drink whisky with water and never drink water without whisky"0

Right, that means it's passing post. So you should have the option to enter safe mode? Or is this problem not allowing you to?0
