Thanks Cheery. It was an absolutely glorious day here. I drove over the mountains (the road that you will be coming down this way on) and it was just lovely. First thing this morning the frost had settled and the fields and the mountains were so white. Then on the way back the colours were stunning, all golds, reds and russets against the greenest of fields. I am very lucky to live here and the beauty never ceases to amaze me. Tonight when driving back from the forest I spotted an owl in the hedge with two fledgelings. I think she was teaching them to hunt.
I have just applied for the BT so fingers crossed that it goes through. I feel much better when I can keep shuffling around the balances to keep it to 0% where possible. I am getting there slowly. I have come a long way in 12 months. Once I have Christmas out of the way I am going to really knuckle down to shifting it. I am really in need of a holiday so I am going to concentrate on that for now and let the debt tickle away. There is no point in stopping life altogether. And I am also consoling myself with the thought that the debt is there because of the pesky bank messing up my mortgage which in theory means that I would be paying off my mortgage quicker. Does that make sense? Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Hi Cheri, it really does sound beautiful where you are. We are in the heart of the flat lands although it isn't too far to travel to see pretty places.
You are right about the cards just replacing part of the mortgage and therefore will be paid off quicker and with 0% at a better cost too. Go for it with the holiday, you never know what you will find over there, maybe a new start for you both (and Moo of course!)0 -
Nowt to add except I've been thinking of you - wonderful to see the owl xTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

The owl was indeed stunning to see. I have always been intrigued by owls. Once (many years ago) I was badger watching in a forest in cheshire (it is now several footballers homes thanks to the planners allowing them to tear down part of the forest) I suddenly became aware that I was being watched. I turned my head and there was an owl sitting in a bush at my eye level and staring at me. It was a strange feeling, we just looked at each other, he didnt move and continued to watch me for several minutes. Perhaps I was his nights entertainment as the badgers were mine. They are the most beautiful creatures.
I mentioned that I was going to visit my colleague yesterday as he is finishing on Friday, well he gave me some rather sad news which means that the right decision to allow him to leave was made. He didnt share this news with anybody before hand - suffice to say that it is health related. I feel so sorry for him and it brought into sharp focus (yet again) as always happens in these cases that I really need to start living my life now and not keep planning for the future. With this in mind I think that I will revisit Mr Bigs challenges on MGs thread and have a think about a good 30 day challenge. I didnt do one because I wasnt aware of anything that I really needed to get done but now I want to think up a really cheery thing to do. I I start it on 31st Oct it gives me exactly 30 days to my birthday so that could be a goal. Now what to challenge myself with I wonder.
Plans for today are mostly around work. I have a list as long as my arm of papers that I need to write and reports to read. I have realised that I am not being as productive as I usually am due to the sheer amount of stuff in my office so I have asked if I can look into renting some storage space somewhere.
Home plans include, as always, walking Moo in the forest, today I WILL stop for lunch and head into town to the post office. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Sorry to hear your friend has another reason to leave other than just not wanting to do the job. I guess the universe was watching out for him.
Can't some of your work be stored back with your employer or will they cover the storage costs?
Sun is shining hear today too, an old friends dad has owl boses and owl cam! he set up cctv so he could watch them with the babies0 -
Yes, work have said that if I can source somewhere they will consider funding it as they have no overheads for me. So that is on the top of my list. I have been sitting in the living room this afternoon with the laptop working and watching the birds on the feeder, it is lovely here today.
Love the idea of an owl box, I might look into one of those as I am currently working on the garden to make it into a wildlife haven. Plans to do a pond sometime soon. Thought that I could start with that first. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sorry to hear about your colleague cherisong
An owl box sounds lovely. Ive seen a few owls in my time, and even though we're in the city, we hear them very close, almost every night. An owl box would be lovely indeed! :T0 -
Sorry to hear about your colleague. I think sometimes these things happen to make up get the perspective right on our own lives. So very sad though.
It does sound very beautiful where you are although I love this time of year with all the wonderful colours everywhere (made even more stunning by the lovely sunshine we are having at the moment). It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
My colleague is "ok" at the moment but it is fair to say that, given the diagnosis he just received, taking the early retirement/severance now is most definitely the right thing for him. Time is precious for him right now if he is to retire and be able to enjoy some quality time. It is so right that these things put our life into perspective. I have lost both my parents at a very young age, my best friend at the age of 20 and currently have another friend on dialysis waiting for his 3rd kidney transplant. Life is certainly for living but I sometimes forget and get bogged down in the serious bits. I overthink and analyse things way too much sometimes instead of just enjoying moments. So I am going to try to revert to my old self (the one that emerged when my best friend died aged 20) and enjoy every moment of life instead of planning and allowing to let life happen whilst I am planning.
That said, I was quite extravagant today and bought myself 2 bunches of flowers, my favourite peach roses and lillies. They are now in a vase on the coffee table in front of me and they smell divine. Mmmm - thats a bit less in the pig this week but hey they are giving me pleasure at the moment and it isnt as if they cost the earth. Hopefully this time next year my garden will be an abundance of flowers that I can cut and bring in.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar.
