I don't know why but alot of people on MSE seem to have an infatuation with debit cards.

You'll find many threads regarding online and offline use etc.

I think its abit sad really if your bank have decided to give you a visa electron, solo or full visa debit, then its for a reason generally because you have an adverse credit history or something similar.

I thought most banks were visa debit now .......I know my company cards are , and i dont think we have adverse credit lol

And , no I really don't care what my card looks like ,it really has no bearing on your finances or what type of person you are

    No, it's really not.

It's how lazy people with a poor education write.

Actually not quite true, many people choose to have fairly basic, uncomplicated bank accounts, it is easier to manage them and stay in the black. Also, the accounts that offer these cards are easier to manage for people on low incomes. I have a Halifax Card Cash account with Visa Electron, I have no recent bad debt, certainly not in the last 20 years, as mentioned I own a house (no mortgage) I own an 06 reg Astra Estate (no finance) and the only debt I have is a small amount on a Capitol One credit card which will be paid in full before it's due.

Don't assume that people with Electron or Solo cards have a poor credit history.

I wouldn't get embarrassed using an Electron card. I'd be more embarrassed if I used text speak on here.

Cards don't interest me to be fair, I'm just happy to have a debit card at last after years of not. Makes me laugh though because I was like some have mentioned on here, I used to have a platinum card and I was £1300 quid overdrawn on that account! Now I have a basic card and am never overdrawn so cards don't mean anything.

Rubbish, i have an ultimate reward account with the black visa debit card with a £5000 overdraft and a joint reward account with £2500 overdraft not that i use the overdrafts and i CHOOSE to have and use a basic bank account with Barclays!

I also have a Capital one credit card and to be honest i don't give a toss what the cards look like as long as they work!

having said that I have classy black cards from First Direct and Egg in my purse!

Every time I see someone pull out a so-called "classy" black card from First Direct, all I can think is "Ha ha, you're not getting any interest on your current account! And possibly paying £10 a month for the privilege!" :p
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

I think the user name says it all, isn't there a joke about BMWs' and Hedgehogs, something about the BMW having the pricks on the inside.

Card snobbery, I think some people need to get back to reality, there are far worse things in life than an un cool debit or credit card.

By the way, I own my house outright (Value £300k, I'm not gloating just making a point), and have no debt, except about £150 on my Capitol One Credit Card which will be paid in full before the due date, I also have a Visa Electron so according to Battie Boi, sorry BMWboi I should be ashamed, why? Who's the bigger fool, someone with un cool cards but no debt or someone with ubercool cards and owing thousands. As a retailer I see lots of cards, at least the people with the Solo and Electron cards seem to have no problems with transactions being declined, yet the amount of people with the posh cards who have to try 3 or 4 different cards before one goes through is unbelievable

i agree wey u, its important to pay off ur cards at the end of each month an if u cant dont buy it tha time, but the looks u get using a solo card in da place i live is unreal.

if u hav the money y not a nice card that accutally works in half the places u try to use it in ??
