Just moved from Lloyds where I had a full debit card (but the twonks won't let me have a chequebook and upgraded account - Classic is all thats good for me) to Santander where I upgraded a dormant account to Premium and got Chequebook and £500 interest free OD, but as account has been dormant since opened a year ago, I've got an Electron.
Now, 95% of the time it does not annoy me at all as money is money, but I've got to wait a few months before they'll change my card, which is a bummer. (They've said that once they've seen my account in action it'll be good to go)
That's the 5% that annoys me. Means I cannot shop online at Tesco. Cannot use Pay-at-Pump and cannot use it on the train any more.
The benefits of the new account make up for it and it'll only be a few months inconvenience.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -

I wouldn't be to bothered, most of the time Tesco Club Card doesn't work on the pumps so you have to go to the kiosk if you want your points.
I have very little trouble using Electron, even online, ok there are a small amount of online shops that don't take Electron, however most do so it's no big deal for me, if on the odd occasion (very rare) I can't get what I'm after elsewhere, I use my Credit Card.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
I like people who can !!!!!!! type/spell properly.0

One of the reasons why I've now decided to keep a slush fund in my old LTSB card for the eventualities.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Every time I see someone pull out a so-called "classy" black card from First Direct, all I can think is "Ha ha, you're not getting any interest on your current account! And possibly paying £10 a month for the privilege!"
Not me!:j
I don't pay anyone any fees for looking after my money and I sweep my dosh into acccounts that do pay interest so don't worry0 -
im sorry but this thread is ridiculous. who cares what the card looks like visa, sola, switch whatever. Why on earth would you get embarassed?0

You don't care a little? Not even a little? Just a tiny bit?
I think the point is that some people associate the Solo or Electron cards with having a "poorer" credit rating than others. But people also have Electron cards to try and beat the airlines' high fees, so there are other valid reasons for possessing and using such cards.
I have an Ulster Bank Gold Card which I use solely for its free extended warranty on electrical appliances. And I admit that when I pull it out in the shop, I feel just a *tiny* little bit like "look at me look at me!" Even though the gold card isn't a lot harder to get than other credit cards.
Normally though I use my standard Halifax credit card for its stoozing ability (0% on purchases). I'm not going to use a card just because of how it looks. In fact, I often don't use my Lloyds TSB debit card because I like the London 2012 logo on it and I don't want it to get scratched or retained by the ATM! Which it did once... grrr. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -

Actually I think most people with any ounce of financial sense realise the colour of the card means nothing
Besides I thought black / platinum are the 'new' gold lolVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -

Completely true!
But I'm constantly surprised in my day-to-day life how little financial sense a lot of people have! You're spelling is effecting me so much. Looks arn't important when it comes to a piece of plastic. I have a standard looking Barclaycard and it only has an interest rate of 6% and have refused on several occasions an upgrade to the "Platinium" card with an interest of 18.9% ! There is no way in hell i'd pay an extra 12% interest for the word platinium written on my card.0
